If so, apply now to join our Board of Trustees! Cyrenians is looking for new volunteer trustees, including a Treasurer, to help guide our work to tackle the causes and consequences of homelessness.

Trustee role

This is an opportunity to use your insight, professional experience and personal perspective to support an organisation that works alongside people facing tough realities - from housing insecurity and poverty to conflict, isolation, addiction and barriers to employment. Our work is valued-led and relationship-based.

As a trustee, you will help set direction, support good decision-making and ensure Cyrenians continues to use its resources wisely and effectively.

You do not need previous board experience. We are interested in people who can think strategically, work collaboratively and bring curiosity, commitment and sound judgement. Some examples of the experience or expertise you may bring include:

·Digital strategy, including cybersecurity, data and AI

·Commercial expertise

·Strategic fundraising

·Finance

·Legal background

However, we also welcome applications from people who bring different skills and strengths.

Treasurer role

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone with strong finance or accounting experience who wants to use their expertise for social good. You will play a central role in helping the Board understand Cyrenians’ financial position, make informed decisions and ensure our resources are used responsibly to support people facing tough realities across our communities.

As Treasurer, you will bring financial insight, constructive challenge and clear advice to Board discussions. Working alongside fellow trustees, the Chief Executive and Director of Finance & Corporate Services, you will help oversee budgets, accounts, controls, risk, sustainability and statutory reporting.

You do not need to have been a charity trustee before. What matters is that you can think strategically, communicate financial information clearly, work collaboratively and bring sound judgement.

About Our City Community

Cyrenians City Community provides accommodation for up to 7 young people who will have experienced a tough reality, potentially as a consequence of family breakdown, homelessness, drug or alcohol issues, or poor mental health. The Community provides a safe and stable environment for young people to live, learn and develop together. Our unique approach to supported accommodation helps young people to develop their skills and build supportive relationships.

About the role

The post holder will work as part of a small team to ensure the Community is a homely, welcoming and safe space for all residents. The main responsibilities of the role are:

·Working alongside residents to develop their own support plans and future goals.

·Encouraging and supporting residents to be active in the day to day running of the community, including being part of all decision making.

·Providing support and supervision to our residential peer volunteers.

About You

We are looking for a flexible, well organised and passionate individual who is aware of the challenges young people face. You will also have:

·Experience of working with young people

·Strong communication and relationship building skills

·A commitment to providing the highest quality of care

How we’ll support you

You will have a supportive line manager who, alongside an experienced and knowledgeable team will provide full induction and training on all aspects of your role. You will be joining a staff team who is always striving to develop further. This means there will be great opportunities for you to both learn and develop, while sharing your existing skills and experiences with others.
