Through a place based approach, the Development Officer Capacity Building will support the development and sustainability of the local third sector by providing tailored organisational development support covering; governance, funding, socially enterprising activity, business planning, volunteering management and community leadership to create strong infrastructures to enable and empower third sector groups and organisations to take forward their aspirations of community ownership and community asset transfer.

This is a key role within our Empowering Communities Programme providing capacity building support services to be a catalyst in community regeneration and community ownership, encouraging community wealth and health building principles through learning and training opportunities, knowledge exchange and peer networking within the third sector and with local and national strategic partners.

The purpose of the Social Enterprise Development Officer role is to support and develop social enterprise activity within the third sector, working with key stakeholders and strategic partners to promote the social economy within the Falkirk & District area. CVS Falkirk have created the new role of Social Impact Development Officer to utilise the Empowering Communities Programme data to measure and help maximise our impact by ensuring evidence gathering and evaluations systems are robust and in place to support our own impact measurement of this programme, developing a deeper understanding of the progress made since the implementation of the Community Empowerment (Scotland) Act particularly around positive change, connecting communities to third sector provision and supporting safer and empowered communities.

The post holder will encourage and empower third sector groups and organisations to embed effective evaluation systems within their work activity, service delivery and outcomes and have confidence in demonstrating both the impact and the difference that they make in their community, to funders and stakeholders to enable them to seek investment and development opportunities.

CVS Falkirk & District is recognised by Scottish Government and Falkirk Community Planning Partnership as the third sector interface for the Falkirk area. We have a primary role in ensuring the continuation and development of a vibrant third sector (charities, social enterprises, community, and voluntary groups) in Falkirk.

A unique opportunity has arisen to support, develop and progress community activity in Limerigg and Slamannan, Falkirk. The role is offered on a freelance (self-employed) basis and will ideally be fulfilled by someone familiar with or already living in or relatively near to Limerigg or Slamannan.

The person appointed will enter into an agreement with CVS Falkirk funded through the EDF Renewables Burnhead Moss Community Fund which is administered by Foundation Scotland. CVS Falkirk will contract, manage, and support the role-holder on a day-to-day basis. Review meetings involving CVS Falkirk and Foundation Scotland will take place quarterly. It is hoped that a resident reference group will be formed, which will meet an estimated 3-4 times per year to support the role-holder’s work.

This role will support the delivery and further development of new and nascent projects and priorities in the area, building on the ideas and energy of local residents.

The Community Development Officer will be directly involved in supporting and encouraging community activity, community capacity building, and the formation of community groups. The Community Development Officer will also be responsible for working with residents and groups to turn community aspirations into successfully delivered community projects.

We have a primary role in ensuring the continuation and development of a vibrant third sector (charities, social enterprises, community and voluntary groups) in Falkirk.

We’re looking to recruit for the first time, a Deputy Chief Executive, someone who is an exceptional leader and motivator that can support the organisation through its next stage of development. The position reports to the Chief Executive Officer, who in turn reports to a Board of Trustees, and in this role, you will be expected to deputise, as well as take specific responsibility for managing staff working on a range of projects, and in a range of operational roles. You will have a key role in contact management, oversight and reporting, as well as representing the organisation in meetings both nationally and locally, as we are active in locality-based community planning and in helping community organisations to strengthen their capacity and capability.

The successful candidate will be a consummate networker, politically astute, with experience of business development, being able to quickly operationalise ideas, problem solve and get things done in collaboration with others.

Applications are welcomed from individuals currently working in the Public, Private and Third Sectors. We welcome applications from people in underrepresented groups, and from those looking to work flexibly. We are currently working at home and can offer a significant level of flexibility in respect of location, although some physical presence in Falkirk and District will be necessary to carry out the role effectively.
