LARCH is a new union, formed from the previous congregations of Leith St Andrew’s, Pilrig St Paul’s and Restalrig St Margaret’s. The congregation puts a high value on reaching out to young people in our community and finding new and innovative forms of worship and ministry relevant to 21st century life. We are looking for a new Children, Youth and Family worker to join us in helping to deliver these objectives, building on foundations established in the previous congregations.

The successful candidate will have significant recent experience in working with children and youth and their extended families with the ability to identify, plan and implement relevant activities. We are looking for someone to provide leadership for Christian youth work in Cowal, primarily through eXp – Experiencing Faith in Cowal, which is an interdenominational charity set up by Cowal Churches. As well as leading eXp, this role will also support Christian youthwork across the Presbytery.

Alongside having experience in working with young people and ability to engage with those young people in the local community who have little or no church connection, you will also have ability to resource and develop the Christian elements of Youth programmes. With excellent communication skills, you will not only lead a team but also advocate for youth work within the Presbytery.

The successful candidate will have significant recent experience in leading worship and preaching with a good knowledge and understanding of congregational life of the Church of Scotland or be willing to learn. The candidate must be a committed Christian with an active Church connection (Genuine Occupational Requirement in terms of the Equality Act 2010) and have a relevant qualification in theology/pastoral care/counselling or similar, or significant, relevant and recent work experience in the area.
