Community Engagement and Activities Co-ordinator

About the role

You will provide a service to people aged over 55 who wish to remain as independent as possible within the community in conjunction with housing.

As a Community Engagement and Activities Co-ordinator, you will work across Glasgow to reduce social isolation by promoting positive participation, engagement and community integration.

You will:

• Develop and deliver creative group work and activities and monitor and record their effectiveness;

• Support and compliment local teams – including our Livingwell Advisors – to develop resources;

• Work collaboratively to ensure our customers live life to the full while living independently at home;

• Work with the Community Engagement and Resilience Lead to support local teams to develop high quality marketing resources and ensure effective promotion of Wheatley Care;

• Develop community links to identify and engage with useful resources and groups;

• Support our customers to become active members of their community;

• Work with partner agencies to achieve the agreed outcomes for customers, local teams and the organisation; and

• Work with individuals from a variety of backgrounds.

Who are we looking for?

The successful candidate will:

• Have solid work or personal experience of supporting vulnerable people;

• Have good verbal and written communication skills and IT skills;

• Be able to work on their own and use their own initiative but also work as part of a team;

• Have enthusiasm and a genuine interest in working with people aged 55 and over;

• Have experience delivering groups or activities; and

• Have experience developing community links and resources.

About the role

Our Livingwell service helps older tenants live independently in their own homes for as long as they can.

We provide Livingwell services to a number of Registered Social Landlords, including Wheatley Homes Glasgow and Loretto Housing Association, which are part of Wheatley Group.

Livingwell includes:

• Staff, or volunteers, on site at certain times over seven days to offer advice or signpost to other agencies;

• Staff, working in small local teams as part of wider area hubs, providing cover 365 days a year;

• A wide range of leisure and social activities for tenants;

• Opportunities for tenants to take part in volunteering; and

• A tried-and-tested OkEachDay service where tenants press a button to let us know everything is fine in their home and, if not, they will receive a call from a friendly person.

Who are we looking for?

The successful candidate will:
