About Aberlour Options Fife - Respite and Outreach

Options Fife Respite and Outreach provides a range of flexible support through outreach and overnight short breaks at weekends, evenings and school holidays to children and young people with complex learning disabilities and autism. We offer a high-quality child centred service providing positive and enabling experiences for the young people, supporting them through the challenges and complexities that enable them to work towards their individual outcomes and personal goals. We work closely with families and other professionals in providing support tailored around the child’s plan.

What we are looking for....

We are looking to recruit two Young People’s Workers, to work 25.27 and another for 24 hours per week on a rolling residential rota including evenings and weekends. The roles cover outreach and short break services. Hours are annualised as the outreach service is open 50 weeks per year and short breaks is open all year round. It is expected you will work 33 hours one week and 18 hours the next week for the 25.27 hour post. And 30 hours one week and 18 hours the next week for the 24 hour post. You will play a fundamental role in ensuring that the young people you work with have the best possible experience in working towards their objectives in line with their care plan, supporting children to progress within their individual outcomes. Whilst not without its challenges and demands, this is a highly rewarding role, where the work we do has a demonstrable impact on each young person's progress. Using a person-centred approach, you will provide enabling support ensuring the highest level of physical, personal, and emotional care. We support young people who have epilepsy, need personal care and need gastrostomy feeding. Aberlour, in conjunction with NHS, provides all staff with training.

We are looking for candidates who have a passion for working with young people with disabilities. It is desired but not essential that candidates hold a relevant qualification at an SCQF level 7 or above. Due to SSSC requirements you may be required to gain qualifications after starting with Aberlour.

About Options (Residential) Fife

Our Options (Residential) Fife service is a full-time, residential house offering long-term residential care for children and young people with complex learning and physical disabilities. We provide a loving, nurturing home for our supported young people who live with us for many years.

What we are looking for....

We are looking for a Young People’s Worker (30 hours per week) to become part of our Aberlour family. Every child and young person has the right to flourish, and they are at the heart of everything we do. As a Young People’s Worker, you will play a fundamental role in ensuring that our young people are supported to live their best lives. Not without its challenges and demands, this is a highly rewarding role. You will provide enabling support to ensure the highest level of physical, personal, and emotional care to support our young people with different daily activities. These activities can include swimming, football, arts and crafts and other interests. Each of our young people has a personalised plan to help them achieve their goals.

Working at Options (Residential) Fife, you will become part of a highly skilled, experienced, and established team. You will have a supported induction programme, with access to an extensive training programme which includes Epilepsy training, Moving and Handling training (including specialised training to assist supported people with movement) and CALM training.

Ideally, candidates will have social care experience, an understanding of complex needs and disability and relevant experience of working with children or young people. You will hold, or be willing to work towards, a relevant professional qualification at SCQF level 7 or above, for example: SVQ 3 Social Services (Children and Young People) plus an HNC. You must also be able to demonstrate awareness of the key elements of working with people affected by disability as well as an understanding of, and commitment to young people’s rights.

Hours will be worked over the residential rota and will include dayshift, backshift, weekends, and public holidays. Every worker has one long weekend in three off.

Aberlour Sustain Clackmannanshire delivers the support families need, when they need it, every day of the year. The aim of the service is to ensure that children and young people can continue to flourish at home, at school and in their local community.

Working with Social Work Services, this innovative and creative service focuses on supporting young people aged 0 – 18 years, who may be on the ‘edge of care’ so that they remain living with their family in their local communities.

Our Service works with young people and their families to enhance relationships, build on existing strengths and interests, help build confidence and encourage new community connections. Our aim is to help all families feel safe, confident, capable, and included. Our approach has been developed through consultation with families and partners.

What we are looking for....

As Service Manager your role is to lead, manage and develop our Sustain Clackmannanshire Service to support children and families in line with planned objectives. We are looking for someone who can provide direction and support for the staff team enabling them to achieve excellent results and manage change in an ever-changing work environment. You will be key in providing the external face of the services to a range of external partners with the aim of influencing service provision to meet the needs of parents, families, children and young people. This will include sourcing funding opportunities.

You will also be responsible for managing the day-to-day operation of the service budgets.

You will be passionate about supporting young people, families, and communities, flexible in your approach and share our vision that collaborative working and relationship based early intervention is the best option for young people and families who are feeling overwhelmed or excluded. Not afraid to test new ways of working, you will bring a fresh, caring, compassionate and collaborative approach which responds empathically to the needs of young people and their families. The work will include early mornings, evenings and weekends. You will have experience of direct practice within this field of work, including child/adult protection issues as well as having experience of working with children and young people.

You will work within a variety of locations in the Clackmannanshire area, including the office base in Alloa, family homes, schools and community settings.
