About Us: Speech Bubble is a Disability Arts Charity offering creative opportunities to children and young people with physical disabilities. Our online workshops for ages 5-24 combine professional instruction in drama, focusing on speech and voice, and film making. We are committed to providing a welcoming and supportive environment, fostering artistic skills, self-confidence, social connections, and a sense of community.

Our Mission: We empower children and young people with physical disabilities through drama, aiming to create a more inclusive society where they can confidently express themselves, share their talents, and lead fulfilling lives. We provide a safe space for developing confidence, creativity, and community, breaking down barriers and promoting understanding, acceptance, and equality.

What Are We Looking For? We seek Trustees to take ultimate responsibility for Speech Bubble’s work and resource use. Trustees set the strategic direction, ensure solvency and compliance with laws, and manage risks. They delegate operational delivery to the CEO and staff team.

Experience and Knowledge:

Understanding of challenges faced by young people with disabilities

Personal experience of living with a disability or as a parent/carer/relative/friend

Experience in the voluntary and community sector/not-for-profit environment

Experience in governance or committee roles

Previous trustee or charity management experience

Relevant Areas of Specialist Knowledge:

Accountancy/charity Treasurer

HR

Creative industries (theatre, film, TV, writing)

Fundraising and networking

Marketing
