Make a Difference for Unpaid Carers

Angus Carers Centre is seeking dedicated and values-driven individuals to join our Board of Trustees to help shape the future of our work supporting unpaid carers in Angus

Unpaid carers play a vital role in our communities, often at significant personal cost. Our charity exists to ensure carers are recognised, supported, and empowered to maintain their wellbeing while caring for others.

As a Board Member, you will:

  • Provide strategic direction and governance for the charity
  • Ensure the organisation remains financially sound, ethical, and sustainable
  • Act as an ambassador for the charity and its mission
  • Contribute to key decisions that impact unpaid carers and their families

This is a voluntary, unpaid role, with reasonable expenses reimbursed.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from individuals with a passion for social impact. You do not need prior board experience. We are particularly interested in people with skills or experience in:

  • Finance or accounting
  • Legal or governance
  • Health and social care
  • Lived experience as an unpaid carer
  • Fundraising, communications, or digital
  • HR, people management, or organisational development
  • Youth work/ GIRFEC

Time Commitment

Approximately 8 board meetings per year, plus occasional sub-committee or development sessions.

About Angus Carers Centre

Angus Carers Association (trading as Angus Carers Centre) is an organisation established by carers, for carers. The Association was established in October 1996 and became part of the Royal Princess Trust for Carers network in November 1997, then becoming known as “Angus Carers Centre”.

Angus Carers Centre is a well-regarded and successful charity/organisation providing tailored information, advice, emotional and practical support to young people and adults who care for a relative or friend who, due to illness, disability, mental health conditions or addiction, could not manage without their care and support.

Today Angus Carers Centre has 24 staff, 20 volunteers, and over 2000 registered adult and young carers.

Job Summary

As part of the Angus Carers Centre Senior Management Team, the Operational Manager will oversee service delivery, manage resources, lead teams, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations. They will also act as a key ambassador for the charity, building strong relationships with stakeholders, funders, and the wider community.
