The MS Society is delivering some of the most exciting fundraising in the UK.

We’re seeking a talented and enthusiastic Community Fundraiser to look after Scotland, to join our dedicated Community and Events team.

Our Community Fundraising Team are focused on raising £2m+ working across the UK in 2023. After a successful 2022 fundraising year, this role offers the opportunity to grow community fundraising with the enthusiastic support of people affected by MS, their friends and families, including members of our local groups.

Our team works within a lively and creative fundraising department, where we break down barriers and collaborate to ensure supporters at all levels get the very best service. You’ll be given free rein to develop your skills and experience, while building relationships with grassroots supporters to maximise income.

You’re likely to be in a similar role for another charity, confident, enthusiastic and with great customer care and communication skills. It would be advantageous to have experience of developing a new pipeline of support within a large geographical area.

You'll know how work closely with supporters, volunteers, local groups and our wider fundraising team.

You’ll be able to demonstrate a good understanding of community and events fundraising and a collaborative approach to teamwork.

Most importantly, you’ll be supporter-focused and willing to go the extra mile to support our amazing existing fundraisers and help them reach their fundraising goals as well as proactively developing new relationships within the Scotland region.

You’ll be home based in Scotland and will be expected to travel widely within this area, as part of your role.

We have 2 Community Development Officers within Scotland which are part of our UK Community Networks team.

As part of our Community Development team your role will be to develop our local community presence in Scotland and developing awareness of and engagement with the MS community by the wider community.

As a Community Development Officer you’ll support our local volunteer groups to develop new partnerships, share good practice, respond to local need and engage with the wider community. This includes the development of events and services, with MS professionals and local groups where appropriate, to engage the community in our work.

You’ll play an important role working in partnership with our local groups and the MS Community to incorporate their needs and views into our work and will provide guidance and support to our local volunteers when developing local services.

The role also focuses on developing our connections with communities we currently under-engage with and to support the development of informal groups within the MS community, and our relationship with them.

The post-holder will have experience of working alongside end-users in the coproduction of services or activities, and a commitment to the principles of coproduction; experience of managing the delivery of activity plans in partnership with volunteers, as well as experience of partnership working and stakeholder engagement to improve local services and outcomes for the MS Community.

As this role covers large geographical areas you’ll need to hold a full driving licence and have access to a car.

We’re looking for a Head of Community and Events to join our ambitious fundraising team. Growing income through a portfolio of sports and challenge events, community fundraising activities and mass participation products.

You’ll have the opportunity to review and improve existing activity, build on the success of newly-developed initiatives, and identify potential areas of growth.

This is a key leadership role, providing strategic direction for our community and events fundraising across the MS Society.

And working collaboratively with senior colleagues across the Engagement and Income Generation Directorate to support our broader organisational goals.

You’ll be the leading authority and champion of our Community, Events and Retail Fundraising, making sure that it is seen as central to the organisation.

In addition, this post is accountable for the fundraising carried out by the network of our local support and fundraising groups, based in all regions of the UK, and so this is an exciting opportunity to be part of a fundraising team with both local and national impact.

We’re seeking an individual with significant fundraising leadership and strategic experience, and a strong track record of delivering successful community and events programmes.

Our role of Stakeholder Engagement Officer is one of 5 within our new UK wide Stakeholder Engagement team which is part of our wider Research and External Affairs Directorate.

Our Scotland team have recently secured funding from the Scottish Government to continue and expand the MS wellbeing hub in Scotland to keep people living well with MS and connected.

This is an exciting, challenging opportunity to support our Wellbeing hub team in the delivery of key projects and day to day operations.

You’ll be proactive and highly motivated. Attention to detail is essential as is the ability to plan and manage a busy and varied workload to provide support on various projects.

Our Wellbeing hub offers a suite of hundreds of free online and telephone sessions for people living with MS to access, including access to one-to-one calls, counselling, as well as many other activities designed to ensure people’s physical and mental wellbeing are supported.

We’re recruiting a Press and PR Officer to help us make a real difference to the lives of people affected by MS. The successful candidate will be a motivated and ambitious individual with experience of the media landscape in Scotland and the UK.

This is an exciting, challenging opportunity and ideal for a confident self-starter. You’ll be responsible for promoting the work of the MS Society with a particular emphasis on supporting an awareness raising campaign and fundraising activity.

You’ll also be responsible for managing media enquiries and upholding the reputation of the charity. Other tasks will include helping to develop the MS Society’s First Person Voice programme, maintaining and developing media contacts, creating, monitoring and delivering social media content, pitching real life stories to consumer media, and monitoring and distributing media coverage relating to our work.

We’re looking for an enthusiastic, experienced individual with experience of contributing to policy and the ability to communicate our position in Scotland to a wide range of audiences and develop our profile.

You’ll help mobilise the Scottish MS Community to make a powerful case for continued improvement in the treatment, care and support of people living with MS.

This is a fantastic role for someone who understands the political and policy environment in Scotland, who is outcome-focused and delivers tangible results.
