The Scottish International Education Trust is seeking to appoint two new trustees at an exciting time in the charity’s history.

The trust has been helping remarkable young Scots fulfill their potential for over half a century. The trustees recently committed to an extensive programme of fundraising to ensure we continue to fulfil our mission for many years to come. We are looking for new trustees whose energy, insights and commitment to the transformative power of international education can help us build for the next fifty years.

SIET makes grants of up to £3,000, typically to those seeking to pursue postgraduate education overseas. The awards are targeted at those who might otherwise struggle to afford opportunities that allow them to achieve their potential. However, we know from long experience that awards provide more than just financial assistance. In the words of one recent recipient: “The award has been, for me personally, much more than just financial help. It was a really huge confidence boost to know that someone believed in me."

We are particularly keen to receive applications from former recipients of our awards, those who can help the board more accurately reflect the communities it seeks to serve, and those who have particular insights in fundraising, communications, charitable governance, widening access in higher education, or developing networks of alumni or similar stakeholders.

‘Connect to Community’ is part of Bethany Christian Trust and seeks to support men and women leaving prison to achieve their goals and to build a positive pathway after prison, by providing a relationship that integrates people into their local community.

As the demand for this service grows geographically, we are looking for a candidate who will strengthen and develop our existing service. A significant part of the role will be to facilitate volunteer mentoring by working in partnership with churches and other organisations across the central belt of Scotland.

The successful candidate will work as part of a team alongside the Referrals and Communications Worker and under the supervision of the Community Reintegration Coordinator.

Starting salary for a successful candidate with an SVQ3 in a relevant qualification would be £29,570 (pro rata). Applications from individuals with and those without a qualification are both welcomed.

The Support Worker role is to support and engage with people to manage and recover their mental health, in line with our trauma-informed approach. You will help people with safer substance use and assist them with the process when they choose to stop. You will assist our people to build a positive network of connections to enable them to gain and sustain their own housing.

As a Support Worker, you will provide work alongside people impacted by homelessness, addiction, mental health challenges and trauma. You will provide guidance and assistance to the people we support to achieve their goals of securing safe housing and accessing the necessary support to feel secure, manage their challenges and live an independent life free from harm or abuse.

Bethany Christian Trusts Supported Housing service offers accommodation and support to individuals who have registered as homeless or are at risk of becoming homeless within Dumfries. Bethany Christian Trust is looking for a support worker to be part of this team. The successful post holder will work as part of a team delivering flexible and creative support to vulnerable people to meet their housing needs.

You will have a proven record as a team player with excellent communication skills; you will have experience and knowledge of the service user group and their surrounding issues. We would welcome applicants with lived experience of these issues. Competence in the use of Microsoft office tools is essential. An SVQ 3 in Social Care, Promoting Independence or equivalent as listed by SSSC as appropriate for a ‘Housing Practitioner’ is desirable; the willingness to work towards this is essential.
