Role

Moving On Inverclyde is recruiting two Harm Reduction and Stabilisation Practitioners to join our developing extended-hours service, delivered in partnership with Inverclyde Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service (ADRS).

This service provides short-term, non-clinical support to adults following a non-fatal overdose or identified high-risk alcohol or drug incident. The focus is on harm reduction, stabilisation, and engagement — helping people remain safe and reconnect with appropriate treatment and recovery services.

This is a relational role requiring sound judgement, clear boundaries, and the ability to work independently within a supportive team.

The service operates seven days per week between 9am and 10pm. Regular evening and weekend working is essential.

We are looking for practitioners who:

  • Have experience supporting adults affected by substance use and/or complex needs
  • Understand harm reduction approaches and overdose prevention
  • Can engage people respectfully at difficult moments
  • Are confident working independently within a rota-based model
  • Share our harm reduction and recovery values

We recognise the value of lived experience and the insight it can bring. We welcome applications from individuals who combine personal insight with the skills and experience required for this role.

Full UK driving licence required.

This is an opportunity to be part of a developing service that aims to reduce harm and strengthen recovery pathways across Inverclyde.

Application notes

To apply, please submit your CV along with a supporting statement (maximum 2 pages) outlining:

  • Your experience working with adults affected by substance use and/or complex needs
  • Your understanding and approach to harm reduction
  • Your experience of managing risk or working independently
  • Your ability to work across the 9am–10pm operational window, including evenings and weekends
