We are recruiting for the post of Development Worker – Engagement Pathways to lead and develop our pathways into services for people. This includes enquiries, initial conversations including risk assessment, baseline outcome measures, reviews and endings.

This is an opportunity requiring excellent communication and organisational skills, where the successful candidate will be required to support the journey of people through our services within the Edinburgh, Midlothian and the Scottish Borders and have an impact on staff development and supervision.

You will be key to maintaining quality within this area of service delivery and in representing our services within Health in Mind. You should have experience of working together with people experiencing mental health problems to support them to achieve their aims related to mental health and wellbeing. You should have experience of developing systems and processes and sharing your learning experiences across teams.

We have an exciting opportunity for someone to join our Midlothian Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Team. This post is funded by Midlothian Health and Social Care Partnership.

We have an exciting opportunity to join the Midlothian Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Team as a Development Worker.

Midlothian Access Point (MAP) is dedicated to improving the mental health and wellbeing of individuals aged 18 to 65 who are registered with a GP in Midlothian. We provide a range of services including information, advice, referrals, and support to help our clients access the resources they need.

Within this role, you will be responsible for delivering individual assessments for the Midlothian Access Point. You will be required to deliver a set amount of individual assessments each week either in person, telephone or online. You will also be managing enquiries, booking MAP appointments and completing any associated administrative tasks.

The successful candidate will have responsibility for facilitating, developing, and delivering Guided Self Help sessions. Guided Self-Help is a one-to-one support service that guides people to access self-help materials. Sessions are delivered in person, online or over the phone. The service is based on the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Interpersonal Counselling (IPC) and is for anyone aged 18 and over experiencing mild to moderate anxiety and/or depression, stress or sleep problems.

They will work collaboratively with communities to provide tailored support, connect individuals to appropriate resources, and maintain a compassionate, trauma-informed approach to meet the needs of vulnerable groups.

We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Team Lead to oversee service delivery across MHARS/DBI and Park Cottage in Midlothian. This is a dynamic leadership role supporting multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, person-centred care to individuals experiencing mental health challenges. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring services are responsive, recovery-focused, and aligned with best practice and organisational values.

As Team Lead, you will provide day-to-day operational management, including staff supervision, case oversight, and service coordination across both settings. You will foster a positive and supportive team culture, enabling staff to perform at their best while ensuring the needs of individuals using the service remain at the heart of everything we do. You will also contribute to service development, quality improvement, and partnership working with external agencies.

This role requires strong leadership capability, excellent communication skills, and experience within mental health or crisis support services. You will be confident managing risk, supporting complex cases, and making informed decisions in a fast-paced environment. A commitment to continuous improvement, staff development, and delivering safe, effective care is essential.

We are a Glasgow-based mental health charity promoting emotional health and wellbeing, seeking to transform lives. We provide a range of services including counselling, training, and we work in communities where we raise awareness of mental health issues, seeking to reduce stigma and build resilience.

Job Overview

As a Community Development Project Worker, you will work with the Community Development Department in local communities to develop and deliver projects, and build strong, supportive networks.

Key Responsibilities

Project Development and Delivery (8 hrs)

• Develop, deliver and evaluate projects and initiatives which address identified needs and promote mental health and well-being.
• Building and maintaining relationships with community members, local organisations, and stakeholders as well as facilitating groups, training and community meetings.
• Evaluation & Reporting (2 hrs)
• Evaluate own projects and collect relevant date for Community Development Reporting.
• Other (as and when required)
• Raise awareness about mental health issues and the services offered by Healing for the Heart in local or regional forums as in when required.
• Collaborate with Community Development Coordinator and Fundraiser to identify new partner and funding opportunities.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

• Experience in working with people and groups.
• Strong understanding of mental health issues and community dynamics.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Good organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Desirable:

• A relevant qualification in community development, social work, or a related discipline.
• Experience working within the charity sector.
• Knowledge of the Glasgow community and local resources.
• Proficiency in using MS Office and other relevant software.
