We have an exciting leadership opportunity to join our South Services team as the Assistant Service Manager for the Scottish Borders Community Mental Health Team. Within this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the day-to-day delivery of our community mental health and wellbeing services.

You should have experience in; providing leadership and management within services, staff development and supervision, supporting people with their mental health and wellbeing, working as part of a team, meeting service KPI’s, data analysis and preparing data for reporting.

Creating Hope Together

Creating Hope Together is Scotland's suicide prevention strategy and action plan (2022–2032), published by the Scottish Government and COSLA. Its vision is to reduce the number of suicide deaths in Scotland while tackling the inequalities that contribute to suicide, so that any child, young person or adult who has thoughts of taking their own life, or who is affected by suicide, gets the help they need and feels a sense of hope.

All of the work is delivered in line with the strategy's guiding principles: putting inequalities and diversity first; co-developing our work with people with lived and living experience; embedding Time, Space, Compassion; keeping the voices of children and young people central; connecting people across sectors to learn together; reducing the stigma of suicide; and ensuring our work is evidence-informed.

The role

This is a new role, hosted by Change Mental Health on behalf of Suicide Prevention Scotland, created to support delivery of Outcome 3 of Creating Hope Together: that everyone affected by suicide is able to access high quality, compassionate, appropriate and timely support.

The postholder will work alongside colleagues in the delivery collective - primarily the Time Space Compassion (TSC) Lead and the Children and Young People (CYP) Lead - to support delivery of a range of actions across the Delivery Plan. In practice this means helping partners in community, primary care, unscheduled care and mental health settings to put person-centred, compassionate approaches into everyday practice; growing the reach of Time, Space, Compassion across Scotland; and strengthening support for children and young people at higher risk of suicide.

The role focuses on enabling practical change in real-world settings through strong partnerships, effective communication, and the thoughtful use of learning and evidence to support continuous improvement. It sits within a small, collaborative team and works across a wide network of national and local partners, including NHS Boards, local authorities, third sector organisations, the Lived and Living Experience Panel (LLEP) and the Youth Advisory Group (YAG).

What you’ll do

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in Alzheimer Scotland’s national programme to improve recognition, awareness and support for children and young people living with childhood onset dementia and their families.

Working as part of the Policy and Research team, and in partnership with Childhood Dementia Scotland, you will support delivery of a national programme focused on three core priorities; building a connected community for families; driving national awareness and understanding developing high-quality information and learning resources

You will take a proactive and collaborative approach to:

• engaging with families and ensuring lived experience shapes all aspects of the programme
• developing and facilitating peer support opportunities, including a national family network
• organising engagement activity across Scotland to connect families and communities
• building partnerships with professionals across health, education, social care and the third sector
• supporting the development of accessible resources, learning programmes and a national online hub

You will also contribute to monitoring, evaluation and impact reporting, helping to ensure that learning from the programme influences service development and policy at a national level.

This role will involve both local and national activity and requires flexibility, including occasional travel across Scotland.

This is a permanent role with Alzheimer Scotland funded by a 2 year grant.

What you’ll have

We are looking for someone who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and families and brings a collaborative, person-centred approach to their work. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage sensitively with families and professionals. You will be accomplished and confident working across organisational boundaries to influence practice and understanding.

You will require a relevant qualification in health, social care, education, community development, or demonstrate equivalent experience.

The successful candidate for this post will be required to provide proof of right to work in the UK and will also be subject to a PVG check through Disclosure Scotland.

As National Fundraising Growth Manager, you will provide dedicated growth capability across Alzheimer Scotland’s national fundraising portfolio. Working across established products such as Tea & Blether, Memory Walk, Shooting Stars and other participation fundraising initiatives, you will identify where growth can be achieved and help shape the plans, partnerships and routes to market that make it possible.

You will work collaboratively with colleagues in Fundraising, Communications, Corporate Fundraising, Community Fundraising and Localities, using data, insight and market awareness to reach new audiences, increase participation, build strategic partnerships and support sustainable unrestricted income growth.

What you’ll have

You will bring experience of growing participation, supporter acquisition or customer acquisition, and of delivering measurable commercial or income growth. You will be commercially minded, curious and confident building relationships with a wide range of partners and stakeholders, with strong analytical skills and the ability to use insight and data to identify growth opportunities.

You will also have excellent communication, relationship-building and influencing skills, experience managing projects and budgets, and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple teams without direct line management responsibility. You will understand how audience growth, acquisition and insight can shape effective promotional activity, while working with communications colleagues rather than owning every delivery channel.
