We are looking for a Project Officer to join Fast Forward’s existing Scottish Gambling Education Hub. This role will have a focus on working in the community with young people, practitioners and families living and working in the Highlands and Islands.

The Hub was Scotland’s first gambling education and prevention programme focusing on protecting young people from gambling harms. Its work includes delivering training to practitioners, staff, schools and youth groups, developing resources, as well as partnership building with national organisations.

Fast Forward is Scotland’s national youth work agency, it is a force for change supporting children and young people to make informed decisions about risk taking behaviours. We take a harm reduction approach to reduce the negative impacts of these behaviours on their lives and those of their families and wider community.

The team’s work is dynamic, challenging and rewarding in developing innovative programmes to address risk-taking behaviours that often goes unrecognised. You will find creative ways to engage with partners, adapting and creating resources to enable them to better deliver meaningful harm reduction and prevention education around harmful gambling and gambling harm.

JOB PURPOSE

This role will establish, develop and support delivery of our new schools programme Timesliders across a number of properties in the North East. Timesliders is an ambitious new concept for the Trust and this role will play a key part in reviewing, refreshing and developing the programme, with the aim to roll it out at other Trust properties in the future.

Working with property and national learning teams, programme developers, and teachers/schools, this role will facilitate delivery of outreach activities, create, develop and promote accompanying events and resources, and will engage schools with the project. The postholder will ensure the evaluation and reporting programme for Timesliders is implemented and will establish relationships with local schools and their communities. This post will also work closely with Visitor Services Managers at the properties to implement planning for sustained schools programmes and activities beyond the initial phase of Timesliders.

CONTEXT

At the National Trust for Scotland, we recognise the importance that learning and engagement plays in adding value to the visitor experience at our properties. In 2021, a new Formal Learning Strategy was introduced by the Trust, which aims to roll out new, consistent, high quality schools programmes across Scotland.

One of the key elements of the new programmes will be the national roll out of Timesliders. This innovative story-based programme involves digital resources, outreach resources, on-site workshops and new ways of engaging with schools in line with the Curriculum for Excellence.

Timesliders has initially been trialled at Drum Castle and Estate and this post will be involved in continued support of the programme at Drum, whilst also developing and supporting delivery of the programme at additional properties. The stories we will tell will include topics as varied as Jacobites, habitats, climate change and medieval history. This post will be at the heart of ensuring the programme reaches a range of local schools and families, including consulting with local schools and communities. This post will also lead on the creation, development and delivery of linked family events and resources to encourage return visits.

As this project is a key delivery element of the Formal Learning Strategy, this post will also work closely with the national Learning team on evaluation, reporting and development, with a dotted line to the Head of Learning. The post holder will also become a member of the Formal Learning Network, a community of practice across the Trust for staff working with schools.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

In this role the post holder will:

• Establish and support properties to deliver Timesliders, liaising with the Site Operational teams, Operations Managers, national Learning team, and other internal/external stakeholders
• Form, build, and maintain relationships with local schools
• Liaise with the Timesliders’ development team of creators, contractors, and suppliers to develop and deliver the programme’s products
• Coordinate logistical arrangements for the outreach activities
• Support properties to deliver and coordinate schools sessions on-site
• Maintain detailed records of participating schools and visits and input into reports by the national learning team
• Contribute to and coordinate evaluation of the programme, working with an external evaluation specialist and the national learning team
• Create and develop resources, guidelines and plans as required to ensure all schools programmes meets the needs of the schools
• Create, develop and deliver new family events and resources to encourage return visits
• Ensure all work is carried out in line with our Conservation principles and Safe Systems of Work (H&S)
• Carry-out any essential administrative tasks as required; e.g. raising purchase orders, contributing to monthly reports, arranging project meetings, etc.

About the Role

We are seeking an organised and detail-oriented Philanthropy Grants Officer to support the development and management of the College’s extensive Research, Grants and Fellowships portfolio.

Reporting to the Head of Development, you will play a central role in administering and developing funding opportunities that support surgical, dental and educational research and professional development. Working closely with colleagues across the College, Committee members, funders, researchers and external partners, you will oversee the full lifecycle of RCSEd’s grants programme, from application and assessment processes through to award management, reporting and stewardship.

This is a varied role offering the opportunity to work across research funding, governance, financial monitoring and stakeholder engagement, while helping to promote the impact of College-funded projects and opportunities. The role also contributes to the development of new funding initiatives and partnerships that enhance the support available to College Fellows and Members.

The role is based in Edinburgh with flexibility for hybrid working. Occasional travel and out-of-hours working may be required.

Experience/Qualifications/Key Skills

You will be educated to degree level or possess equivalent professional experience and have experience supporting grants, funding or award programmes, including administration, financial monitoring and stakeholder engagement.

You will have excellent organisational skills, strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong analytical and numerical skills are essential, together with the ability to work confidently with financial information and spreadsheets.

You will be an effective communicator, capable of building positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and providing clear advice and guidance on funding opportunities and processes.

Experience within higher education, charity, medical research or related environments would be advantageous.

The Role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated Co-ordinator to lead and develop our footcare initiative across the Forth Valley area. Braveheart’s Top Toes service is already operating in Falkirk District and your role will be to drive forward the growth of the social enterprise, while managing the high quality of the footcare service. Joining the Braveheart team at this exciting time in the organisation’s development offers the successful candidate the opportunity to make a tangible difference to the lives of hundreds of people in the Forth Valley communities. Key challenges of the role will include implementing a new online payment system, recruiting and developing volunteer teams and promoting the footcare service through partnership development and marketing activities.

Our footcare clinics are delivered by volunteers. The Co-ordinator role includes organising regular training including with the NHS podiatry team, mentoring and supporting volunteers, promoting good communication and holding regular volunteer team meetings.

The post is initially funded by Clackmannanshire and Stirling Health and Social Care Partnership for up to 2 years, however, the aim of the socially enterprising project is that it will become self-sustaining through the income raised by the service.

We are looking for someone who is passionate about health promotion and community engagement with strong organisational and interpersonal skills. Familiarity with community health networks and knowledge of the local area will be an advantage.
