We are recruiting for a Family Support Worker to join our service providing Targeted Family Support in Aberdeen. Applicants should demonstrate skills in delivering support through an early intervention model supporting families in their communities. In addition, this service will also support young people who are in conflict with the law. Applicants should demonstrate skills report writing, case management, supporting young people in conflict with the law including diversion from prosecution and knowledge of court and child protection processes.

Y sort it Care Connections programme aims to support care experienced young people aged between 10-16 years, within West Dunbartonshire.

The role of the Care Connections Support Worker will be to provide support appropriate to care experienced young people’s learning needs, raising attainment by providing a supportive pathway throughout the young person’s school life and beyond.

You will be active at providing support and encouragement, helping them to overcome challenges and /or barriers working towards goals to improve their learning, skills and personal development.

Care Connection Support Workers will be the #Keeping The Promise leads, work with young people currently accessing Y Sort It services who are care experienced. Offering guidance, rights based information, creating learning opportunities. You will be developing support plans, providing advice and information, training and peer support. Your role will be to work closely with schools, partner agencies and family members.

The post holder should be flexible as the actual times of work will involve working, evenings, school holidays and weekends. The post holder should be flexible as the actual times of work may change to respond to the demands of the work of the Care Connections programme including overnight stays.

About this role

We have an exciting opportunity for a new Outreach and Support Worker to join our team for a fixed-term period of two years. This role will be working across West Central Scotland and we are particularly keen to hear from applicants living in Forth Valley, North Lanarkshire and Glasgow. You will be the first person our participants meet, so knowledge of services within this area would be beneficial.

You’ll be a caring, dynamic and driven person, dedicated to levelling the playing field and equipping people with the tools they need to thrive. You’ll be comfortable and confident working autonomously alongside people with complex lives.

Working across your area and in the Scottish wilderness, you’ll provide bespoke and holistic 1:1 support for participants, spending time to get to know them, their strengths and where they want to go. You’ll help to shape their journeys, navigating 1:1, community and wilderness journey support, always harnessing the benefits of the outdoors and nature spaces to provide therapeutic benefit. You will prepare participants for wilderness journeys and support them to develop employability skills.

We need you to work closely with referrers and partners to provide joined up support for participants, managing the differing needs of your case load, including working with young people and adults.

As an Outreach and Support Worker, you will:

• Have knowledge of services in the area that you will deliver (i.e. Glasgow and West Central Scotland)
• Deliver group activities outdoors in community greenspaces
• Provide one-to-one support for participants, identifying and removing barriers to participation and supporting towards their individual goals
• Maintain positive relationships with stakeholders, generating referrals for all programmes
• Promote Venture Trust within local communities
• Support the delivery of wilderness journey opportunities in Scotland’s wilder places
• Work closely with referral partners and any other stakeholders to provide joined up support for participants
• Work within a team structure with hybrid working arrangements

As part of our ongoing commitment to empowering children and young people and providing quality youth work services we are seeking to recruit for the following post:

Sessional Youth Workers @ £16 per hour

We are looking for an enthusiastic, creative, and fun person who can support the delivery of our youth work services. The post holder will have experience of working with young people, delivering high quality activities and building relationships with young people and their families.

Sessional staff may be required to deliver innovative and creative one-to-one and group work support, actively helping young people (YP) in schools and/or in the community. This may include working outdoors and delivering play-based activities with children and young people.

Additional responsibilities may involve covering our Open All Hours provision at the Commonwealth Pool on Friday evenings—facilitating activities such as swimming, providing a chill-out space, supporting sports sessions, and working alongside personal trainers in the gym. Sessional staff may also be asked to support our universal youth work provision for young people aged 5–18.

We are looking for individuals with excellent communication skills who can demonstrate the ability to build positive relationships. The ideal candidate will help us work towards our outcomes and uphold the values of the organisation.
