Raasay is one of the most accessible islands in Scotland, with a regular ferry service that runs throughout the year, seven days a week from Sconser on the Isle of Skye.

As Local Development Manager (LDO), you will be joining us at a very exciting time. The island has a growing population of around 200 people, with several active community organisations that own land, the village hall, the local shop, two hydro schemes and the ‘big house’ - Raasay House – and its walled garden. Raasay Development Trust (RDT) itself owns housing, pontoons and a wood-fuel processing plant. It also delivers the Scottish Government funded Carbon Neutral Islands pilot, which brings significant investment in improving the sustainability of the community, and supporting community-led climate action.

Your role will focus predominantly on managing RDT’s activities but you will also have opportunity to support other local organisations in areas that may interest you, for example advising the local shop on raising funding for the refurbishment of new premises. It is an ideal job for someone who wishes to contribute to the sustainability of a small and vibrant community while getting to work with autonomy, design systems, and develop meaningful projects.

Key requirements

• Two years’ experience in similar role(s);
• Fundraising and financial management experience with organisations or projects over £100K in turnover;
• Staff and/or volunteer management experience;
• Strong community engagement skills

You do not have to be based on Raasay to apply. We expect the successful candidate to work from home and be willing to travel regularly to Raasay, estimated once every two weeks, after the initial two-day induction period.

Inverclyde Community Development Trust delivers targeted projects to support the most vulnerable across Inverclyde, supporting families and individuals experiencing challenging circumstances. Through this project, the Energy Advisor will deliver energy advice to our clients, individuals and families in vulnerable situations, who are referred to the programme by our local partners. The Advisor will ensure that the most vulnerable households across Inverclyde can access impartial energy advice, advocacy and support; aiming to empower those facing economic hardships, discrimination, health inequalities or long-term unemployment. The Advisor will ensure that support and guidance is available for these groups to navigate energy related challenges effectively, to reduce fuel poverty and fuel fear across Inverclyde.

Main duties and responsibilities

1. Energy

Responsible for:

• Provide advice and information to individuals (in person or via telephone) on energy saving methods, including energy grants and rebates, meter issues, switching providers
• Undertake negotiations with energy suppliers regarding debts and repayments
• Refer appropriate households to Home Energy Scotland to access national and local schemes for energy efficiency measures to make homes warmer. This will include homeowners and private tenants
• Deliver weekly drop-in sessions across the Trust’s Community Pantries, as well as partner venues and local Community Hubs
• Provide one-to-one appointments at suitable locations across local venues
• Deliver workshops focused on energy literacy and energy consumer rights
• Attend events to provide information and advice as appropriate

2. Working relationships

Responsible for:

• Work with volunteers within the Trust Pantries and Trust Befriending Projects to create Energy Champions, providing appropriate training and support
• Create connections with local partners, including Housing Associations and Community Link Workers
• Promote project via Trust social platforms, Inverclyde Now and the Local Authority’s Financial Inclusion Partnership and local partners

3. Reporting

Responsible for:

• Accurately input case records via Trust database systems for the purposes of monitoring and reviewing statistical information
• Provide Reports as required for Trust Board and Funder in line with funding requirements

4. Other Duties

Responsible for:

• Undertaking City & Guilds Level 3 training as a requirement of the post
• Occasional home visits may be required if deemed necessary
• Keep up to date with changes in Legislation and Policy relating to the role and service needs.
• To undertake any other relevant duties within the overall scope of this post as may be required by the line manager

The role feeds into the Human Rights and Citizenship theme within our Strategic Plan. This theme aims for MIN to continue to ‘develop a space which provides alternatives to hostile immigration policies’.

• Improved collaboration between organisations working alongside people seeking asylum

Overall we want to see greater solidarity and respect shown to people seeking asylum in the UK.

The central duty of the Human Rights & Advocacy Coordinator is to coordinate the activities developed under the Human Rights and Citizenship theme. The activities include:

• Coordinating campaigns
• Advocating for rights
• Developing peer-support initiatives
• Contributing towards policy change

Youth 1st is seeking an experienced and motivated Youth Work Manager to lead and manage the B:activ project across Fife. This is an exciting opportunity for someone passionate about improving the health and wellbeing of young people through active engagement and community-based youth work.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the delivery and development of the B:activ project, promoting physical activity, wellbeing and Climate Action among young people across Fife.
• Line manage and support project staff to ensure high-quality youth work practice.
• Work collaboratively with local partners, youth organisations, and communities to extend the project’s reach and impact.
• Meet partnership obligations with Climate Action Fife and BRAG Enterprises NOLB.
• Monitor and evaluate project outcomes, providing regular reports to funders and stakeholders.
