As an Energy Advisor, you will have the opportunity to work across our range of teams to help people with expert energy advice. We are looking for enthusiastic and talented Energy Advisors to help us deliver the vital Home Energy Scotland advice service in the South East and Highlands and Islands. You’ll be the first point of call for householders who need free and impartial advice about how they can lower their bills and reduce their environmental impact. You’ll also be at the forefront of Changeworks’ mission to make low carbon living a reality across Scotland. You will have experience engaging with customers and your excellent communication skills will help you support householders and relay technical information to a non-technical audience. You will require good IT skills and have a stable internet connection.

Home Energy Scotland is a free, impartial advice service funded by the Scottish Government and managed by the Energy Saving Trust. Changeworks has been involved in delivering the service for 16 years, and currently manages advice centres in South East Scotland and the Highlands and Islands.

With the energy crisis affecting so many people, we are also looking for Energy Advisors to join our Community Engagement and Energy Advice Service where you’ll be at the forefront of supporting householders in fuel poverty with fuel billing, debt and advocacy support. You will have experience of providing advice to householders to support them to adopt energy efficient behaviours.

Throughout the directorate, we provide high quality advice and information on topics including energy efficiency in the home, behaviour change, renewable technologies and water. We also support many people who are living in fuel poverty with access to grants and funding to keep their homes warmer for less. Along with the satisfaction of helping people on a daily basis, you’ll also receive an City and Guilds Energy Awareness qualification and join an organisation consistently rated as a fantastic place to work.

The ideal candidate and the role

To be successful in this role you should have a passion for helping and supporting people and be a confident communicator. Our advisors speak to a wide range of customers with varied enquiries on a daily basis, providing them with high quality advice tailored to their circumstances and empowering them to take action and change their behaviours.

You will join a team of customer-focused energy advisors in a fast-paced environment, taking inbound calls and making outbound calls to our existing customers. An interest in the environment and sustainability would be an advantage but is not essential, as full training will be given.

In return you can expect

We will start to grow your knowledge of our services and energy efficiency straight away. The Energy Advisor induction programme includes the City and Guilds Energy Awareness in the Home qualification. We will support the successful applicants with ongoing coaching, mentoring and development.

£23,366 to £24,993 per annum, based on a 35-hour working week

£25,035 to £26,778 per annum, based on a 37.5 hour working week

Full time - 37.5 hours per week for Home Energy Scotland South East

35 hours per week for Home Energy Scotland Highlands & Islands and Community Engagement and Energy Advice Services teams

Reporting directly to the Director of Finance and Operations, the role is to be responsible for managing the day to day financial administration of the organisation.

The Finance Officer provides effective support for the organisation on all aspects of finance ensuring that the function always runs smoothly. The successful candidate will have responsibility for the integrity of all financial records and accounting to include Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, expenses, cash, bank, journals, accruals/prepayments leading to financial reports.

They will also be responsible for delivering key aspects of back-office operations, which include managing the Perth office and coordinating the interface with IT support firm

The Finance Officer position is a role best suited to an individual who is looking for a part – time fixed-term opportunity. The ideal candidate will have excellent financial, organisational and IT skills and be able to demonstrate initiative and a can-do approach to all aspects of the role. To be successful in this position, you must thrive on challenges and enjoy working in a busy, dynamic environment.

The successful candidate should be willing to carry out daily processing with a problem-solving mindset. They will be someone who continues to embed and improve systems and processes as well as adhering to organisational procedures.

The preferred candidate would be someone who has worked in an accounting focused role ideally with a non-for-profit background but candidates looking to move into this sector are also welcome to apply.

This is an integral role in the organisation and will be highly visible which requires an individual who is organised, has excellent attention to detail, a strong technical background and a drive for success.

• Person specification: Highly numerate with experience in designing and managing integrated, multi-sheet financial workbooks

• Experienced in using accounting software

• Ability to plan and manage workload to meet agreed targets, and to meet deadlines

• Very good, interpersonal skills and demonstrable ability to maintain good working relationships in a team and with members

Terms and conditions

This is a part-time contract, subject to a probationary period of 8 weeks. Salary is £25,000 - £26,500, pro rata per annum, depending on skills and experience. LINK makes an employer contribution to employee personal pensions of up to a maximum of 12% of basic salary, complementing employee contributions. The pro rata leave quota is based on 25 days' annual leave and 10 public holidays per annum. The appointee may work the hours over shorter workdays Monday to Friday, or over, less longer work. On occasion it may be necessary to work evenings or parts of weekends, for which time off in lieu will be granted. All approved expenses will be reimbursed.

About the role

This is an exciting opportunity to join Sustrans as part of the Connected Neighbourhoods team, working in partnership with East Lothian Council to facilitate a strategic approach to active travel infrastructure development and delivery in the council area, as well as providing support with active travel policies and proposals for the council's planning and pipeline projects.

As the Senior Project Officer, you will be embedded within East Lothian Council, working in partnership with external organisations and across council departments to align policy aims and identify and develop opportunities for investment in active travel. You will support the planning and delivery of active travel interventions and provide expert support and guidance to ensure that walking, wheeling and cycling are integrated into strategies, programmes and projects.

The role is based within the geographical area with regular travel expected to East Lothian Council offices and either Edinburgh or Glasgow hubs.

About you

You should have experience in (at least) one of the following: transport planning, land use planning, urban design, traffic engineering, sustainable transport project delivery.

You will be an experienced project manager able to work collaboratively with multiple partners and stakeholders.

You should have the ability to work independently and be able to make decisions with minimal supervision, as well as have excellent report writing skills.

We ask you demonstrate knowledge of the funding context for active travel in Scotland.

Borders Forest Trust (BFT) was established in 1996 as a woodland conservation charity, with the aim of restoring the ecological balance of the South of Scotland, by bringing native woodlands and their associated natural habitats back to the area.

BFT now owns over 3,500 hecatres of land across Southern Scotland. Working with hundreds of dedicated volunteers, we have set about restoring natural habitats on our land and to date have planted over 2 million native trees.

Objectives of the Post

The new post of BFT’s Communications and Membership Officer provides a rewarding and varied range of challenges.

You will be part of a small and enthusiastic team and will be contributing directly to enabling the restoration of native woodlands and reviving woodland culture. The role will predominantly involve indoor work, requiring someone with a mix of skills - especially exceptional organisational, and interpersonal skills.

The post will play a key role in raising awareness about Bjorders Forest Trust and engaging people in our mission of ecological restoration across the southern uplands, as well as community engagement across the Borders and beyond.

This role involves managing BFT’s digital presence, developing engaging content, and coordinating communications strategies to reach as many people as possible and inspire donations, membership, as well as volunteer support.

The role also includes support of the membership function of the organisation, the management of our CRM database (Donorfy) and close working with the Finance Manager and Development Manager to ensure a high quality member experience on behalf of BFT.
