Role

Around since 1923, SAMH is Scotland’s national mental health charity. We have represented the voice of people most affected by mental health problems in Scotland for almost 100 years. Today, in over 60 communities we work with adults and young people providing mental health social care support, services in primary care, schools and further education, among others.

These services together with our national programme work in See Me, respectme, suicide prevention and active living; inform our policy and campaign work to influence positive social change. SAMH is dedicated to mental health and wellbeing for all: with a vision of a society where people are able to live their lives fully, regardless of present or past circumstances.

About the Role

Our Thrive Service Manager will oversee two of our Edinburgh SAMH services which are part of Thrive Edinburgh, an innovative approach to delivering mental health support to the citizens of Edinburgh.

You will be responsible and accountable, with support from our Team Leader, for maintaining high quality standards at our Redhall Walled Garden. You will predominately work from our site at Redhall. In addition you will provide line management and oversight of our SAMH Practitioners working within the Thrive Welcome Team in the South West of Edinburgh. Thrive Welcome Teams are multidisciplinary teams which deliver short term focused supports for people experiencing mild to moderate mental health issues in each Edinburgh locality.

What we are looking for

We are committed to providing care and support to our service users and are looking for a Service Manager who is equally dedicated to the provision of outcome focused person centred care.

As an experienced manager, you will provide positive leadership and management whilst demonstrating and evidencing the following;

  • Leading and managing teams to ensure safe and effective provision of support to those people who use the service through the promotion of outcomes focused person centred approaches.
  • Reporting and evaluating of operational service delivery demonstrating delivery and development
  • Experience establishing effective partnerships with key stakeholders.
  • Compliance with relevant, legislation, contracts and service specifications, SAMH policies and ensuring practice reflects current research findings.
  • Effective and efficient management of all resources.
  • Contributing to the wider work of SAMH to support the achievement of SAMH strategic objectives.

This post is for 4 days and which days can be agreed with the successful candidate (Mon-Fri). You may be required to work out with this in line with service needs. There is a requirement to participate on the management on call rota out with working times.

We will expect you to establish strong and sustainable relationships in the community which will increase awareness and engagement of the project and promote building resilience to enable behaviour, culture and community change around stigma and discrimination.

To be successful in this post you will meet the essential criteria, core competencies behaviour and skills listed in the role profile and be able to demonstrate a proven track record of delivering outcomes for vulnerable adults; and knowledge and experience of working in the field of mental health and wellbeing.
