North Argyll Carers Centre seeks to recruit 2 Carer Support Workers

North Argyll Carers Centre is a value-based charity, which supports those who look after a family member or friend due to illness, disability, frailty or addiction on an unpaid basis. We are a Network Partner of Carers Trust.

We are seeking to recruit 2 Carer Support Workers. This is an exciting opportunity to join our team and make a real difference to the lives of unpaid carers across the Oban, Lorn and Isles area. Based at our centre in Oban, you will work within the Adult Carer Support Team, providing emotional and practical support to unpaid carers across the Oban and Lorn area.

Post 1 – Adult Carer Support Worker. This role is based at our offices in Oban, supporting carers living in and around Oban, and working with the Adult Carer Support Team to deliver our drop-in support service at the Centre on Albany Street. Some travel and home visits are required.

Post 2 – Mainland Outreach Carer Support Worker. This role primarily entails travel around the locality to deliver support services to adult and parent carers living in the more remote and rural areas, for whom travel to Oban is more difficult. Some office-based working, with the Adult Carer Support Team in Oban, is also required.

Both posts require:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills including active listening and the ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • The ability to prepare reports and maintain appropriate records
  • Computer skills including the use of email, internet and Microsoft Office programmes
  • An understanding of the issues affecting unpaid carers.
  • Willingness to travel independently throughout the Oban and Lorn area, and wider afield if necessary.

Use of a car and a current driving licence are essential.
