Carnegie UK is excited to be recruiting for a new Head of Research and Insight to join our senior management team and champion the role of high-quality, mixed-methods research and analysis in advancing collective wellbeing.
We are a charitable trust and have been working to improve wellbeing in the UK and Ireland for over 100 years. We seek to influence public policy and practice at a systemic level, building on robust evidence and research to argue for change.
In 2021 we published our new strategy which updated how we work. We are focussed on improving collective wellbeing: ensuring everyone has what they need to live well now and in the future.
Our dual strategic aims are to tackle threats to wellbeing and to put wellbeing at the heart of decision making. We are looking for someone with the skills and experience to help us identify and answer the right questions and to build a compelling body of evidence and policy insight in support of these aims.
This is an opportunity for a proven researcher to work at the interface between data, research, public policy and practice to help generate useful insights. The post holder will work across the UK and Ireland, building relationships and helping us to understand and advance the kind of policy and practice changes needed to make a difference to people’s lives.
We are looking for someone with demonstrable research experience and a track record of effective and inclusive management to join our team and help us articulate what we need to know, and what the evidence is telling us. We expect that the successful candidate is likely to be a generalist with significant mixed-methods experience, excellent quality assurance practice and a desire to learn more about wellbeing.
Carnegie UK offers a flexible and supportive working environment and exceptional terms and conditions. We operate a 35-hour working week and provide 5 paid days each year for volunteering. We aim for staff to spend two days a week together in Andrew Carnegie House in Dunfermline but recognise that this may not always be possible every week.

Shared Care Scotland is a dynamic and ambitious charity dedicated to improving the provision of short breaks in Scotland for adult and young carers and the people they care for. It is estimated there are 700,000 to 800,000 unpaid carers in Scotland who support family members, friends, and neighbours with various needs, including physical and mental health conditions, disabilities, and age-related issues.
Shared Care Scotland aims to support unpaid carers and cared-for people by ensuring they have access to meaningful breaks and activities that promote good health and wellbeing. As one of Scotland’s leading National Carer Organisations, their work is focused on improving the choice, availability, and quality of breaks.
Their activities include policy influencing, advocacy and campaigning, conducting research, delivering learning events and networks, and co-producing practice guidance. They also host a national online directory of short break services and helpline, manage a £6m third sector Short Breaks Fund on behalf of the Scottish Government, and lead Scotland’s pioneering national Respitality project.
The role
Shared Care Scotland is seeking an inspiring and strategic leader to join their team as the next Chief Executive Officer (CEO). The CEO will collaborate closely with the Senior Management and Board of Directors to lead a dedicated team committed to enhancing the provision of short breaks across Scotland. The role requires a commitment to the organisation’s vision and values, proven leadership skills and management experience, and the ability to build alliances and navigate complex stakeholder environments.
The person
The ideal candidate is a visionary leader with a proven track record in strategic leadership and senior management within a not-for-profit or similar organisation. They will have high integrity, resilience, empathy, and a collaborative leadership style that fosters a culture of continuous improvement and excellence. In addition, they will possess a deep understanding of Scotland's health and social care sector and related legislation, and knowledge and experience of implementing governance best practices, including financial, legal and ethical standards.

We’re looking for an experienced Patient Information Manager for an exciting new role. Excellent written communication, copy editing and proofing skills are essential for this post, and you will require to have previous experience in writing for a variety of different media channels. You will have the ability to convey complex medical information in accessible language and knowledge of the steps involved in producing information. You’ll have line management experience and the ability to review and give feedback on others’ work. Previous experience of working in cancer healthcare would be an advantage.
About the role
This is an exciting time to join Myeloma UK as we launch our new five-year strategy.
As Patient Information Manager you will have the opportunity to lead, develop and diversify the range and type of patient information we currently produce, working with a range of internal and external stakeholders. Managing the Patient Information Team, you will oversee the quality of all resources produced, ensuring compliance with recognised standards and internal brand requirements.
The Patient Information Manager will also be responsible for managing the information events team who hold digital and in person events for those affected by myeloma, working with the team to plan the programme for all events.

We are looking for a Communications Officer to support our team in Scotland to respond to Scottish media enquiries, delivering campaigns to influence health policy and support our fundraising and engagement comms activity.
Reporting to the PR Manager, the role will help deliver key media campaigns that call for change to support people to rebuild their lives after stroke.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Working as a team to deliver a proactive, effective and 24/7 press office, building relationships with identified media and opinion formers, and ensure timely media responses based on organisational and reputational priorities.
- Working with the Campaigns and Public Affairs team to deliver influencing activity to key health board stakeholders, Stroke Association campaigners and the general public.
- Working with the Stories team to identify and deploy the real stories of the stroke survivors we work for.
You will have experience of:
- Generating media coverage in Scotland, ideally in the charity sector.
- Using media to deliver calls to action to the public (eg donating, fundraising, campaigning) and/or decision makers (eg policy change).
- Planning, executing and monitoring media plans against identified briefs and overarching objectives.
- Working alongside Policy and Public Affairs colleagues.
- Creating, posting, and managing social media content.
- Reputation management and working with crisis communications teams.
- Working with colleagues from across an organisation to identify media volunteers (case studies) and developing stories to deliver media coverage.
This role requires occasional travel across the UK to attend team days, conferences and researcher events. Candidates must be able to meet this requirement of the role.
