Express Group Fife is an established mental health charity with a network of social groups throughout Fife. The aim of the groups is to promote positive mental wellbeing by providing a safe place for sharing experiences and peer support. This aim is as relevant today as it was in 1977, when Express Group Fife started to operate, and the number of people living in the community with mental health problems is as large as ever.

We are looking to recruit two Group Co-ordinators.

Post 1: for Central Fife to cover groups in Lochgelly, Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes.

Post 2: for East Fife to cover groups in Methil, Cupar, St Andrews and Tayport.

There are 4 elements to the service:

• Working with groups of people around a shared activity
• Providing a basic healthy lunch
• Supporting service users in the development of individual support/recovery plans
• Mental health promotion and community development work.

Job purpose:

• To support the team in working effectively with individuals by supporting service users in a group setting and assisting in the management of individuals.
• To co-ordinate and manage day support groups; in consultation with the Manager and caseworker, be responsible for the management of groups.
• To co-ordinate, manage, monitor and review the development of the groups in order to make them interesting and relevant to the people who attend.
• To provide emotional and practical support to service users with high support needs.
• To enable provision of a basic healthy lunch.

To lead the provision of relationship-based support delivered to young people and families in the community and to promote positive outcomes in line with the values and principles of includem.

Purpose & Context of Role

The postholder will manage their own caseload ensuring support plans are developed with the young person to respond to their individual needs and supporting them to improve outcomes in line with GIRFEC principles and includem’s model of support.

A project worker will demonstrate leadership and ownership over effective service delivery to young people by managing outcomes for young people through use of line managers, colleagues and organisational tools, processes, policies, and procedures.

The key responsibilities of the Project Worker include, but are not limited to:

Service Delivery

• To build relationships and deliver outcome-based support to young people and families, involving all key stakeholders.
• To be available for young people and families at critical times
• To explore values and attitudes with young people in a supportive manner, to affirm and validate their feelings and ideas, and nurture and confirm their learning.
• To ensure a focus on regular and appropriate case progression to help young people and families recognise progress.
• To assess and respond appropriately to situations where young people and/or families may be at risk of harm.
• To support with crisis management and generate solutions for young people and families using the Helpline, with risk enablement being at the heart of professional judgement and decision making.

People

• To understand the different coping mechanisms that young people and their families use to deal with stress and high emotions, and to respond appropriately.
• To demonstrate professional resilience when providing support with sensitive or challenging issues
• To use a strengths-based approach to empower individuals facing adversity to find solutions and make positive changes, ensuring resources are in place to sustain these changes.
• To establish mutually trusting, open and non-judgemental relationship with young people and their families
• To encourage and lead collaborative team work to provide a ‘scaffolding of support’ around each young person and their family.
• To respect and value the contribution of wider stakeholders and the delivery of includem services.
• Where opportunity allows experience of directing, supporting, and mentoring Assistant Project Workers/Sessional staff.
• Any other duties as designated by your line manager.

• To deploy time effectively to meet the needs of young people and families to ensure the service is available 24/7, 365 days per year.
• To maintain and produce accurate and timely records and reports.
• To ensure support is delivered in line with includem’s Policies Procedures, SSSC Codes of Practice & National Guidelines

LCIL is a user-led organisation providing a range of services that enable Disabled People to live independently in the community of their choice.

LCiL are recruiting for a full time Peer Support and Learning Facilitator to facilitate the effective delivery of the PSL programme deliver workshops and peer support groups in Edinburgh and the three Lothians.

PSL facilitates group peer support with disabled people and carers on all stages of their social care and Self-Directed Support (SDS) journey, empowering them to take ownership of, and have more control over, their health and wellbeing. The team also work in partnership with The Action Group (TAG) to facilitate peer support with carers from BAME backgrounds.

Peer Support and Learning Facilitator role:

• Alongside PSL and TAG colleagues and LCiL Champions, facilitate peer support groups with disabled people and carers in Edinburgh, East Lothian, Midlothian, and West Lothian.

• Support Champions within their roles; work with the Service Manager to ensure meaningful opportunities for volunteers are available and people are supported to learn, develop, and lead.

• As part of team, create content for information workshops and co-deliver with colleagues and Champions.

Scottish Health Action on Alcohol Problems (SHAAP) is seeking to appoint an experienced Policy and Public Affairs Officer who is educated to degree level, ideally with a relevant postgraduate qualification, with a keen interest in reducing harms from alcohol.

The Role

The Policy and Public Affairs Officer will help guide SHAAP advocacy activities through identifying and analysing relevant policy, providing advice and developing evidence-based positions, carrying out research, monitoring media and policy activity, dealing with the media, responding to consultations, organising events and providing administrative support.

SHAAP is a partnership of the Medical Royal Colleges and the Faculty of Public Health in Scotland and is based at the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh (RCPE).

Using the best available evidence, SHAAP provides the authoritative clinical voice on how policy makers and clinicians can reduce alcohol-related harms in Scotland. We work in close collaboration with key organisations in the alcohol field in Scotland, the rest of the UK and worldwide.

The Person

The Policy and Public Affairs Officer will be an excellent communicator with internal and external stakeholders at all levels of seniority, with the ability to self-manage and prioritise in a dynamic context and within a small team. They must have the ability to advise on and communicate SHAAP policy positions, with experience of researching and drafting briefings, and/or policy papers and/or consultation responses. They must also be able to represent SHAAP at internal and external meetings, seminars and conferences.

The salary for this role will be £34,711 per annum plus benefits. Additional benefits include:
