THE ROLE

We are currently seeking to recruit a part-time Finance Assistant for our finance team on a permanent basis. Key responsibilities for this role will be the processing of accounts payable and accounts receivable invoices accurately and timeously ensuring adherence to timescales.

Other responsibilities will include the reconciliation of supplier statements, preparation of weekly payment runs and credit control activities.

As Finance Assistant, you will work closely with the Finance Director and as a team member, ensuring all aspects of finance administration are managed effectively and efficiently. You will be reliable, organised, computer literate, able to work independently and as part of a team in a small office environment and have a mature approach to handling confidential financial information.

Experience with Xero accounting software preferable but not essential

Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly MS Excel and Outlook

In your experience, you will have a reputation for being highly organised and dependable, and having an ability to communicate effectively across the breadth of the organisation. CentreStage is a fast-paced organisation and as such your ability to respond to competing priorities and demands and your adaptability will be an asset in influencing and interacting with colleagues and stakeholders.

Duties and responsibilities

Support the Finance Director in the smooth running of the finance department:

  • Processing purchase invoices and checking supplier statements
  • Raising sales invoices accurately and timeously following receipt of invoice requests.
  • Preparing weekly supplier payment runs and issuing customer statements to ensure timely receipt of sales income
  • Allocating payments and sales receipts to supplier and customer accounts
  • Helping with cash counting, postings and reconciliations
  • Posting expenses, petty cash and credit card transactions
  • Assisting with month-end close activities where required
  • Dealing with enquiries from internal and external sources e, g. customers or suppliers
  • Other general administrative duties as they arise.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum SVQ level 3 or equivalent qualification in finance related subject.
  • Two years previous experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills across a wide demographic of age, stage, and ability.

Skills

  • Excellent IT Skills, including use of ICT packages i.e., Word, Excel, Power point, Access.
  • Xero accounting software experience desirable but not essential
  • Strong interpersonal skills with an approachable personality.
  • Excellent letter writing and organisational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills

Knowledge

  • Good knowledge of database systems and processes
  • Understanding of HMRC VAT legislation
  • Clear understanding of Data protection and confidentiality
  • Health & Safety Legislation

Ability

  • Ability to work under pressure to agreed deadlines and adapt to change.
  • The ability to pay high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work in a flexible manner.
  • Excellent written English and the ability to communicate at all levels.
  • Ability to represent the company externally with key stakeholders.
