Project Esperanza is a Scottish charity that supports families of African heritage as well as families from multi ethnic backgrounds with practical emotional and integration support.

Job Outline

As a member of the team and in partnership with other services and agencies you will support the development of practice, culture, and systems to improve outcomes for children and young people from the Black and multi ethnic communities who are at risk of experiencing or who have lived experience of The Scottish Care System. You will also

play a key role in supporting the delivery of the wider aspirations of “Keeping the Promise” to children, young people and their families in Scotland, through a transformation of the way care and support is provided.

We are looking for someone will contribute to the development of approaches and systems that deliver a supportive workforce by equipping everyone who provides a supportive role to children, young people, and families with the specialist knowledge required to respond to the unique and individual needs of families with migrant and refugee/asylum status. Your supportive role will help to improve outcomes and prevent many families reaching crisis point.

You will work as part of a core team, reporting to the Promise Lead but you will be required to build relationships and engage with a range of key stakeholders including children, young people, their families and carers, practitioners, and decision-makers both within the service and the wider partnership.

The post holder will support Black and Minority Ethnic women, their children and young people experiencing and/or fleeing domestic abuse or forced marriage. Applicants ideally have a minimum of 2 years’ experience of working with Black and Minority Ethnic Communities; especially, women, children, and young people; an understanding of the legislative and cultural issues surrounding domestic abuse/forced marriage and their effects on Black and Minority Ethnic women, their children and young people.

The post holder must have a minimum of SVQ Social Services and Healthcare at SCQF7 or above to meet registration requirements of SSSC or relevant qualification such as degree in Social Work or Community Education and must be a bilingual speaker in Hindi and or Urdu and or Punjabi.

Fife Women’s Aid are delighted to be launching a new service for women experiencing domestic abuse and are looking to recruit a full-time support worker to develop this service.

The role will involve providing ongoing flexible support to women in their own accommodation, with a focus on harm reduction and tenancy sustainment within the community. The service will work in accordance with the Housing First principles and will enhance our existing service provision for women who have experienced domestic abuse.

Applicants should have good communication skills and a passion for supporting recovery from domestic abuse.

The successful applicant will have at least SVQ Level III or equivalent level of qualification in health and social care or other relevant subject, or a willingness to work towards a qualification.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a high degree of motivation and have the ability to work on their own as well as part of a team.
