Role
Maryhill Burgh Halls Trust is a community-led organisation, established in 2004 by local people, to rescue the semi-derelict historic building from proposed demolition. The regeneration project dramatically re-purposed the landmark building and, since re-opening in 2012, the multi-functional Halls are back into the heart of the Maryhill community.
It would be particularly valuable to have new local members with Fundraising, Legal, Marketing & Comms expertise. Although we are primarily looking for experience in these areas, we welcome interest from all backgrounds and experience.
To paraphrase - our objectives are:-
- To preserve, for public benefit, the historical and architectural heritage of the area
- To provide social welfare facilities for recreation and other leisure activities,
- To advance education through promotion of the arts,
- To relieve poverty among the local community,
- To provide/promote employability training,
- To relieve/facilitate unemployment,
- To promote and protect the wellbeing and physical health of the local community,
- To help young people to develop their capacity as individuals and citizens;
- To relieve the needs of sufferers, carers and families regarding mental/physical disability, illness/impairment, old age, substance abuse etc.
- To support other initiatives for the benefit of the community within the area.
The Halls are managed by our CEO and a small but dedicated team, ably supported by local volunteers. Working to a social enterprise model, the Halls generates a level of self-funding through office rental and event space hire. The halls also contain as a tenancy a nursery and two recording studios. As part of our community engagement and our aims we have a small exhibition/museum space and the main hall and other areas are available for short hires for events, functions, conferences as well as hosting a variety of community events. We have refurbished the onsite café which we will soon be operating as both a community amenity and eventually a skills training facility. There is much being done and still more that we can do and we would like energetic and committed people to join us on the board to help drive it forward.
Formal, early-evening board meetings are held every 2 months, with various ad-hoc and topical sub-committees meeting in between.

Trustee Recruitment
Articulate is looking to recruit new Trustees to support the development of the charity's strategic direction, quality assurance, risk management, fund-raising and good governance in line with our ambitious ten-year plan.
We would like to hear from any interested individuals who have the time and commitment to support our activities. In particular, we seek younger applicants and people with care experienced backgrounds and/or with education, human resources, mental health, IT or capital fundraising knowledge.
We would particularly benefit from input by people with lived experience of the care system and we'd also benefit hugely from the guidance of a Trustee from a Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic background*. ACT is committed to diversity and inclusion but at present, we have no Trustees of colour. We are very keen to address this deficit and welcome applicants from ethnically diverse communities.

Intercultural Youth Scotland (IYS) is looking for committed board members to continue their work as Scotland’s major voice for Black and People of Colour (PoC) children and young people. Established nearly four years ago as a small anti-racist youth work organisation, we have grown to a team of over 30 staff members – many of us Black and PoC young people ourselves. We aim to make IYS a community, a support and a champion for all Black and PoC children and young people in Scotland.

When IYS join these spaces of decision-making, we are often the only people present directly engaged and connected into the lives of Black and PoC young people. We have a fantastic opportunity to join our Support Care Team in Glasgow to provide our donors and fundraisers with excellent supporter care.
You will have a minimum of 1 year’s experience in supporter care/customer service, and you will have experience of inputting data and general use of databases.
Your responsibilities
- Deliver excellent supporter care and stewardship journeys to our donors, fundraisers and event participants through effective communication via inbound/outbound calls and e-mails.
- Identify opportunities to steward and maximise the lifetime value of supporters.
- Ensure accurate banking and recording of all donations to Maggie's, including processing income from a variety of online fundraising platforms to ensure funds are attributed to the correct donors.
- Ensuring mailing preferences are applied to donors' records on our database.
- Manage and respond to a wide range of enquiries from supporters, people with cancer and their friends and family, volunteers, centre fundraising staff and third-party suppliers.
