As non residential island based post: salaried position at annual salary band C 23,525 Salaries will prorated to reflect contract length. Role

During the main season (early March to mid-November), the Deputy Cook will work closely with the Abbey Cook and kitchen volunteers to provide tasty and healthy home-cooked food for up to 80 people (up to 44 guests and 30 staff plus visitors). Out of season (from mid-November until Christmas), the Deputy Cook will be the person in charge of the Abbey kitchen.

Please note, this is a 10-month seasonal contract from 1st February 2024 to 30th November 2024.

The Deputy Cook will have specific responsibility for

• the daily running of the kitchen with the Abbey Cook

• assisting the Abbey Cook in inducting, coaching, supporting and supervising volunteer staff and others (including guests) who come to help out in the kitchen.

• managing food stocks and ordering provisions in accordance with the annual budget and the ethical food policy.

• ensuring that Environmental Health and Safety and the Food Safety Standards are met in the kitchen at all times.
