Team: Delivery/SCNI
As the Engagement Officer, you will help people and communities choose walking, wheeling and cycling for everyday journeys. You will plan and deliver projects, events and activities that encourage active travel and bring people together. You will build positive relationships with community groups, partners and stakeholders, helping them to get involved and make a difference locally.
You will manage project plans, budgets and records, making sure activities are organised and delivered effectively, whilst supporting community engagement initiatives. You will also work closely with volunteers, supporting their involvement in projects and occasionally helping with volunteer recruitment. Through this work, you will contribute to the Walk Wheel Cycle Trust's wider goals of creating healthier, safer and more accessible communities.
What You’ll Be Doing
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys engaging with communities, inspiring positive behaviour change, organising events and activities, and working with partners to help more people choose walking, wheeling and cycling for everyday journeys.
About you
We’re looking for someone who has experience and understanding in the areas listed below. You don’t need to meet every requirement — if you feel you’d be a good fit, we encourage you to apply.
Living our values
At the Walk Wheel Cycle Trust, we’re a values‑driven organisation. We’re looking for people who are:
Always Learning– curious, open‑minded and committed to continuous improvement.
Championing Equity– inclusive, respectful and focused on ensuring everyone has a voice and fair opportunity to succeed.
Taking Ownership– proactive, responsible and empowered to make things better.
Delivering Together – collaborative, transparent and motivated by shared success.
Through our values we make it possible for more people to walk, wheel and cycle safely, healthily and joyfully.

Are you experienced in building community power and supporting communities to get active through walking and cycling schemes?
Are you passionate about tackling air pollution, supporting families to choose active travel, and raising the voices of communities most affected by climate change but least often heard? If so, we would love to hear from you!
We are particularly keen to hear from people who experience marginalisation and minoritisation or who are often excluded from decision-making processes. For example, people of colour; people from working-class backgrounds; people from LGBTQ+ and migrant communities; care-experienced young people and people with disabilities.
About us
Parents for Future Scotland began as a grassroots group of parents seeking to make climate action the norm among all parents in Scotland. We became a registered charity in 2024 and are now a small, self-employed team with a growing network of activists.
We seek to make climate action the norm among all parents in Scotland. We are growing our influence and reach across the country, supporting parents and communities to take action on climate change and work towards a climate-safe future for every child.
About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic, community-focused Coordinator to support schools and families across Edinburgh to improve air quality and increase walking, wheeling and cycling to school.
Working with schools, parents, community partners and the Air Pollution Manager, you will help establish and develop walking buses, bike buses and other active travel initiatives. You will support parents and community members to develop the skills and confidence to lead their own initiatives, helping create lasting change within school communities.
This is a hands-on role involving relationship-building, community organising, volunteer development, training and practical support for active travel schemes and air pollution workshops. You will also help schools develop sustainable approaches to active travel, encourage peer-to-peer learning and contribute to the wider aims of Parents for Future Scotland.

Help shape the future of Edinburgh’s greenspaces
What would Edinburgh and the Lothians look like if everyone could access quality greenspaces that support their health and wellbeing?
That’s the ambition behind the work of Edinburgh & Lothians Greenspace Trust (ELGT).
For more than 30 years, we’ve been working with communities and partners to create and improve greenspaces across the region – delivering practical projects that benefit people and nature, support biodiversity and climate resilience, and help people connect with their local environment.
We’re now looking for up to five new Non-Executive Directors to join our Board and help shape the next chapter of ELGT.
Bring your experience. Make a difference.
We’re looking for people who can bring experience, insight and constructive challenge to our Board, and who share our commitment to the role greenspaces can play in creating healthier, more connected communities and a better environment.
We’re particularly interested in people with experience in
1. Finance & Financial Sustainability
Financial management, accounting, audit, governance, risk and financial sustainability.
2. Strategic Fundraising & Income Generation
Fundraising strategy, securing investment and developing sustainable income.
3. Biodiversity, Woodland & Nature
Biodiversity, woodland management, nature restoration and environmental policy
4. Organisational Change & People
Understanding how organisational strategy, change and workforce decisions affect people, organisational capability and long-term sustainability.
These are our current priority areas, but they aren’t the only things we value. If you bring different experience, perspectives or skills and share our commitment to ELGT’s vision, we’d love to hear from you.
You don’t need previous Board experience. We’ll provide a full induction and support you to contribute effectively as a Director and Trustee.
The role is unpaid, with reasonable expenses reimbursed, and involves around half a day a month on average including four Board meetings a year, the AGM and some additional supporting activity.
Greener Kirkcaldy is a community-led charity working locally to bring people together, take positive action on the climate emergency and support people through fuel poverty and food insecurity. We deliver a range of projects, events and skills training to achieve the needs and goals of local people – building resilience as a community and working towards a future where everyone can live better and tread more lightly on our planet.
Based in the heart of Kirkcaldy – with a community building, training kitchen, bike shop and garden – we carry out activities across Kirkcaldy and work with partners to deliver projects across Fife.
Part of our core team, you will support the day-to-day operational running of our key sites, including our community building at 8 East Fergus Place, the community garden and cabin at Ravenscraig Walled Garden, and our Active Travel Hub and bike shop on Kirkcaldy High Street.
The Role
We are looking for a Caretaker and Facilities Assistant to play a key role in ensuring our facilities are welcoming, clean, safe, secure, and well-maintained for staff, volunteers, participants, hirers, and visitors.
The successful applicant will enjoy practical problem-solving and take pride in maintaining community spaces through routine DIY, minor repairs, housekeeping, and proactive site inspections. A central part of the role involves keeping our spaces safe and compliant by carrying out statutory compliance checks—such as weekly fire alarm tests, monthly emergency lighting and extinguisher inspections, and routine health and safety checks.
You will work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and contractors, as well as use our digital tools to easily capture visit details, track maintenance issues, and keep site records up to date. Whether you are setting up rooms and equipment for events or acting as a keyholder for our venues, you will be committed to helping create safe, efficient, and welcoming environments for everyone across Greener Kirkcaldy.
Working at Greener Kirkcaldy
We want our town to be a good place to live and work. We believe in a future where everyone has a say in what happens locally, people are working together to protect our environment and those in hardship are supported to live well. That includes our staff and volunteers.
Working at Greener Kirkcaldy involves being part of a positive, collaborative and social team. Our culture is really important to us. We promote equality, diversity and openness. We have a strong focus on staff wellbeing and development and encourage staff initiative and ideas.
Benefits of working for Greener Kirkcaldy
Diversity and inclusion
We want Greener Kirkcaldy to be an inclusive and diverse charity where everyone feels supported, valued and able to be themselves. We take part in Fife Centre for Equalities’ Equality Pathfinders programme. We also take part in the Race Equality Environmental Programme facilitated by CEMVO Scotland. Our Equalities Action Plan sets out the steps we are taking to improve diversity and inclusion.
To achieve our vision of Kirkcaldy as a greener and fairer place to live, we need a diverse team. We encourage applications from people of any background. We know that our sector particularly lacks staff and volunteers with Minority Ethnic backgrounds and disabled people. If you identify as Minority Ethnic or have a disability, we welcome your application.
