Edinburgh, with some of our services stretching city wide.
Space delivers 22 projects, with around 60 staff and 100 volunteers. We deliver diverse services supporting young
people, families, older people and carers amongst others.

The Role
The purpose of this role is to improve the quality of life of Carers in South West Edinburgh, providing support,
information, advocacy, advice and connections, using a whole-family approach.
The post holder will provide one-to-one and group support to carers who are in 4th, 5th & 6th year of school, and
carers aged 16-25yrs who are not in school.
The post holder will work closely with staff who are supporting carers in other age ranges to aid smooth transitions
between groups
Day to day you’ll be:
- Providing regular one to one support sessions to carers, creating person centred development plans, building in
regular reviews to monitor progress
- Carrying out home visits for new referrals
- Producing Young
Carers’ statements for carers in 4th, 5th & 6th year of school
- Producing Carers’ Support Plans for
carers aged 16-25yrs who are not in school
- Accompanying carers on excursions where individual support is
required
- Planning and running carers group activities on Wednesday and Thursday evenings for two age
groups
- Consulting with the carers to create a schedule of fun, engaging, age appropriate activities that
provide carers with some respite from their caring role and encourage peer connection
- Planning and
attending annual residential trips for both age groups
The successful person for this role will:
- Have a minimum of 3 years’ experience working with young people under 25yrs, including experience of delivering
individual and group work
- Have a creative approach to delivering age appropriate, engaging group
activities whilst adhering to strict budgets
- Be available to work until 8.30pm on a Wednesday &
Thursday evening in order to run carers group sessions
- Have a natural ability to form appropriate
relationships with teenagers and young adults
- Have a sound understanding of, and sensitive approach
towards, the needs and difficulties faced by young people, in particular those in a caring role
- Be
conversant with the principles of GIRFEC and their application in practice
