ABWA provides information, emotional/practical support, refuge accommodation and accommodation advice to all women, their children and young people who are experiencing domestic abuse from their current or ex- partner.

The CYP Support Worker will provide confidential, trauma- informed, age and stage appropriate support and information for children and young people within the ABWA refuge, and service.

The CYP Team works closely with ABWA’s Team Leader and colleagues.

Salary

• Qualified: £28,775.25 + 8% pension (35 hours)
• Unqualified: £26, 460 + 8% pension (35 hours)

SVQ level 3 in Childcare or HNC Childhood Practice or HNC in Childcare and Education or a willingness to work toward this.

Duty & EDDACS Support Worker (Women from Migrant and Ethnically Diverse Communities)

Job Purpose: The role of the Duty/EDDACS Support Worker is to provide a confidential, safe and supportive frontline information service to women and agencies who contact EWA across our Duty and EDDACS (Edinburgh Domestic Abuse Court Service) service. Support can be accessed through the crisis phone line and/or ‘drop in’ service and delivered within a multi-agency framework consisting of the MARAC and local partnership responses to domestic abuse. Where safety issues are assessed, the worker will ensure the completion of the Risk Identification Checklist and an individualised support and safety plan. Where appropriate the worker will assess women, and any accompanying children who are affected by domestic abuse, for refuge accommodation. This role is based at EWA offices 4 Cheyne Street, Edinburgh, EH4 1JB.

The role also provides specialist, culturally responsive and trauma-informed support to ethnically diverse, migrant, refugee and asylum-seeking women, addressing barriers such as insecure immigration status, No Recourse to Public Funds (NRPF), language needs, cultural isolation and difficulties accessing statutory services, while facilitating access to legal, immigration, welfare and housing support.

This role is subject to satisfactory Adult and Child PVG scheme membership.

Shakti is a feminist Black Minority Ethnic voluntary organisation which offers information, advocacy, emotional/practical support and refuge/temporary accommodation to all Black Minority Ethnic women and their children, who are experiencing or fleeing domestic abuse.

The post holder will ideally be a bilingual speaker in one of the BME community languages; preferably Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi, Bengali, Mandarin, Cantonese, Arabic, Swahili, Hausa, Amharic, Yoruba and Igbo or other South Asian or African or East Asian languages and have exceptional leadership and management skills to steer our strong, committed, and skilled Outreach Services team; strong communications, influencing and negotiating skills; experience of working with Black Minority Ethnic (BME) communities. Must have sound knowledge and understanding of equalities issues and the issues affecting BME women, children, and young people, understanding of the legislative and cultural issues surrounding BME specific Gender-Based violence, domestic abuse, honour-based abuse such as forced marriage and female genital mutilation, and their effects on Black Minority Ethnic women, their children, and young people.

Job Purpose: As part of Edinburgh Women’s Aid’s (EWA’s) administration team to ensure efficient and effective support to the organisation’s funding activity, community fundraising and communications. The post holder will work closely with EWA’s Senior Management Team (specifically the CEO, Deputy CEO and Finance Manager) to provide support to EWA’s funding applications, funder reporting and relationship management. The role will involve research, drafting copy and collating data to support EWA’s grants, trusts and foundation applications. The post holder will also provide the highest level of donor care to both trusts and grants and to community fundraisers. Additional responsibilities will cover communication and marketing duties including EWA’s digital communications, social media and promotional materials including EWA’s annual Impact Report.

A satisfactory Disclosure Scotland Level 2 check is required for this position.
