Join Our Team – Supporting the Mental Health and Wellbeing of Ukrainian Young People

U-evolve and The Junction are delighted to be recruiting for two exciting new roles as part of a partnership project providing dedicated mental health and wellbeing support for Ukrainian young people aged 12–21 living in Edinburgh.

Together, our organisations bring over 30 years of experience supporting young people's mental health across the city. Through this new programme, we will deliver accessible, trauma-informed and culturally responsive support that helps Ukrainian young people build resilience, improve their mental health and wellbeing, strengthen social connections and access the support they need.

Working closely with Ukrainian communities, local organisations and young people themselves, this project will combine individual and group wellbeing support with community engagement and service development to ensure support is shaped by the voices and experiences of the young people it serves.

The Mental Health Support Worker will provide direct mental health and wellbeing support to Ukrainian young people through one-to-one and group interventions, helping them develop resilience, confidence and positive coping strategies.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will build trusted relationships with young people, deliver evidence-informed interventions and contribute to a safe, welcoming and inclusive environment where young people feel heard, supported and empowered.

You'll have experience supporting young people's mental health, a strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and safeguarding and be passionate about helping young people achieve positive mental health outcomes.

For both roles, fluency in Ukrainian and lived experience or a strong understanding of Ukrainian culture and community needs is essential.

Both roles require experience of working with young people, knowledge of trauma-informed approaches, safeguarding and professional boundaries, and a commitment to working collaboratively with young people, communities and partner organisations.

About The Junction

The Junction is an award-winning charity in North East Edinburgh that supports and improves young people’s health and wellbeing.

Last year, we supported more than 1,800 young people and supported around 150 young people through one-to-one support. As a result of the service:

• 100% of young people learned practical ways to look after their wellbeing
• 88% felt more able to cope with difficult situations
• 94% reduced or stopped substance use or learned how to reduce harm associated.

About this Role

Within this role you will champion youth participation, ensuring that young people have a genuine voice in shaping both our services and the wider development of the organisation. You will build and maintain strong relationships with partners, funders, and stakeholders, helping to strengthen The Junction’s reputation and reach.

You will lead and support a dedicated team of Project Workers, fostering a collaborative, reflective, and supportive working environment where staff and volunteers can thrive. Alongside this, you will take organisational responsibility for safeguarding as The Junction’s Child Protection Officer, ensuring the highest standards of practice and compliance.

• Experience of supervising and managing others to deliver high-quality services

Working within our values and behaviours framework, you will play a key role in delivering DofE’s fundraising ambitions across Scotland, helping to secure the philanthropic investment needed to achieve the goals set out in our new World Ready strategy and ensure more young people can access the life-changing opportunities DofE provides.

You will manage and grow a portfolio of major donors, and Trusts and Foundations, securing five- and six-figure gifts and developing long-term partnerships that support DofE’s strategic priorities across Scotland. Alongside managing existing supporters, you will identify, cultivate and secure new funding opportunities, building a strong pipeline of prospects and helping to diversify income sources.

Working closely with the Director of Scotland, Head of Philanthropy, colleagues across Scotland and senior volunteers, you will develop compelling cases for support, create tailored funding proposals, and deliver outstanding stewardship that inspires donors to deepen their engagement with DofE.

As an ambassador for DofE, you will represent the charity at meetings, events and networking opportunities, building strong relationships with donors, funders, volunteers and stakeholders. You will bring insight into Scotland’s philanthropic landscape and help shape fundraising activity that supports sustainable income growth.

The role requires a collaborative and proactive approach, working across teams to identify funding opportunities, develop impactful funding propositions and ensure supporters receive an exceptional experience.

The role will be home-based with regular travel across Scotland to meet donors, attend events and engage with stakeholders. It will require regular travel to London, and occasional travel to other parts of the UK

What we are looking for:

We’re looking for an experienced and motivated fundraiser who combines strong relationship-building skills with a strategic approach to income generation. You will have:

• A proven track record of securing and managing significant gifts from Trusts and Foundations and major donors.

• Experience developing and managing a pipeline of prospects, moving supporters successfully from identification through to solicitation and stewardship.

• Strong relationship management skills with the ability to engage, influence and inspire a wide range of stakeholders.

• Experience of developing compelling funding proposals, applications and cases of support tailored to donor interests.

• Ability to work collaboratively across teams to identify opportunities and develop fundraising solutions

• Strong networking skills and the ability to identify, create and maximise opportunities

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly and persuasively.

• A self-motivated, proactive and resilient approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a wider team.

Community Volunteers Enabling You (COVEY) has been a lifeline for children, young people and families across Lanarkshire since 1992. We provide one-to-one and group-based befriending, mentoring and family support services tailored to those who need it most. Our mission is to help children, young people and families become more resilient, safe and better equipped to reach their full potential.

COVEY is entering an important period of growth. Our 2025-28 Strategy sets out ambitious plans to increase income, grow unrestricted funding, strengthen our external profile and develop wider community support for the charity.

As Corporate, Community & Events Fundraising Manager, you will lead the development of corporate partnerships, community fundraising and events, helping COVEY grow sustainable unrestricted income and build long-term relationships with supporters.

This is a new role with real scope to build on COVEY’s existing relationships with volunteers, staff, trustees, supporters, funders, schools, employers, community partners and local networks to identify new fundraising opportunities and partnerships.

You will also help shape fundraising activity linked to COVEY’s 35th anniversary in 2027, using this milestone to raise our profile and build long-term supporter relationships beyond the anniversary year.

This role would suit someone who is confident, proactive and relationship-focused, with the ability to spot opportunities, make compelling asks, build partnerships and turn interest into meaningful support for children, young people and families.

What we’re looking for:

• A successful track record of generating income, developing partnerships, identifying new leads and converting opportunities into active support
• Knowledge of corporate, community and events fundraising, including supporter stewardship, sponsorship, challenge events, employee fundraising, Charity of the Year partnerships and community-led fundraising
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, including confidence in networking, presenting and making fundraising asks
• Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage fundraising activity, events, budgets, supporter communications and CRM records
• A collaborative, supporter-focused approach and a strong commitment to COVEY’s mission, values and outcomes
