Every day, around 1,000 volunteers help older people across Scotland access nutritious food, practical support and meaningful social connections. Their contribution enables older people to live independently, stay connected to their communities and enjoy a better quality of life.

As we look to the future and deliver our ambitious strategy for growth, we are seeking a National Volunteer Development Manager to lead the next stage of our volunteering journey.

This is an exciting opportunity to shape and strengthen volunteering across a national charity with a 30 year history of supporting older people to eat well, age well and live well.

About the role

Reporting to the senior leadership team, you will lead the development of Food Train's volunteering programme across Scotland.

You will work closely with local branch teams to strengthen volunteer recruitment, retention, training and recognition, ensuring volunteers have an exceptional experience and are supported to make a meaningful difference.

You will develop and implement a national approach to volunteer engagement, create opportunities for learning and development, support local teams to build volunteer capacity, and help Food Train attract, retain and diversify the volunteers needed to achieve our strategic ambitions.

This is a role for someone who enjoys both strategic thinking and practical delivery, someone who can inspire others, build strong relationships and drive positive change.

We are looking for someone with experience of developing and improving volunteering programmes, ideally across multiple locations or services.

You will have experience of volunteer recruitment and engagement, developing training and resources, supporting organisational improvement and working collaboratively with a range of stakeholders.

Somebody Cares Scotland is an Aberdeen-based charity dedicated to restoring dignity to people in need across the city and surrounding communities. Through its furniture provision service, food bank, and practical support programmes, the charity helps individuals and families facing challenging circumstances to establish safe, comfortable homes and access essential resources.

Somebody Cares Scotland is now seeking an experienced and motivated Charity Operations Manager to join the organisation at an exciting stage of development. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a central role in overseeing the charity’s day-to-day operations, ensuring services are delivered efficiently, effectively, and in line with the organisation’s values and mission.

The successful candidate will lead the operational delivery of the charity’s core services, including furniture provision, logistics and collections, food bank support, and volunteer coordination. Reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, you will provide hands-on leadership across multiple service areas, ensuring that clients receive a high-quality, dignified service while supporting the continued growth and development of the organisation.

A key aspect of the role will involve line management responsibility for a team of client services staff and the Food Bank Coordinator, providing guidance, support, training, and performance management to ensure the delivery of excellent services. You will oversee client referral processes, maintain strong relationships with support workers and referral agencies, and ensure accurate client records are maintained in line with data protection requirements.

Working closely with the Senior Facilities & Logistics Manager, you will coordinate furniture collections and deliveries, oversee stock movement between sites, and ensure operational processes run smoothly across the organisation. The role will also involve supporting the day-to-day running of the food bank, monitoring stock levels, coordinating resources where required, and ensuring all services are delivered in line with the charity’s dignity-led approach.

You will also contribute to the planning and delivery of monthly sales events, seasonal campaigns, and community engagement activities, helping to maximise the impact of the charity’s work while supporting operational continuity across all service areas.

The successful candidate will have proven experience within an operational management or coordination role, together with demonstrable experience of leading and supporting staff teams. You will be highly organised, solutions-focused, and capable of managing multiple priorities within a fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills are essential, along with the ability to work effectively with clients, volunteers, donors, colleagues, and external partners.

As the organisation continues to grow its impact, Somebody Cares Scotland is now seeking an experienced and motivated Fundraising Development Lead to establish and lead its fundraising function. This is a unique opportunity to shape the future sustainability of the charity and play a key role in enabling its services to reach even more people in need.

The successful candidate will be the organisation’s dedicated fundraising professional, responsible for developing and implementing a fundraising strategy that creates sustainable income growth and long-term financial resilience. Working closely with the Chief Executive Officer and Board, you will identify opportunities across trusts and foundations, corporate partnerships, and other appropriate income streams, building the foundations of a successful fundraising programme from the ground up.

A key aspect of the role will involve researching and developing relationships with prospective funders, preparing high-quality funding applications and proposals, and managing the full funding cycle from prospecting and application through to stewardship and reporting. You will work to strengthen existing relationships with supporters while identifying and securing new opportunities that align with the charity’s mission, values, and ambitions.

The role will also involve establishing the systems, processes, and infrastructure required to support a growing fundraising function. This includes implementing effective donor management and reporting systems, creating stewardship frameworks, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring all fundraising activity complies with relevant legislation, regulations, and best practice standards.

Working collaboratively with colleagues across the organisation, you will help articulate the impact of Somebody Cares Scotland’s work through compelling case studies, evidence-led storytelling, and meaningful supporter communications. You will also act as an ambassador for the charity, representing the organisation at networking opportunities, partnership meetings, and stakeholder events throughout the region.

The successful candidate will have demonstrable experience of securing income through trusts and foundations, corporate partnerships, major donors, or related fundraising disciplines, together with a proven ability to manage the complete fundraising cycle. You will be a strategic thinker with excellent written communication skills, capable of translating complex operational activity into compelling cases for support that inspire confidence and investment.

An opportunity to work within our innovative & busy city-wide Prevention of Homelessness Team providing dedicated energy advice services as part of our Routes from Poverty Project, which includes members of the Community Food Larders and Food Pantry’s in Glasgow We have initial funding for two years for this post but hope to secure future funding. Candidates must hold or be willing to attain the City & Guilds Energy Awareness Level 3 Award. Costs of training will be covered.

The Energy Advisor, reporting to the Service Manager, will provide a full Energy advice service in terms of providing the following;

Energy Advice & Efficiency: Offering tailored advice on energy efficiency, heating, and insulation to reduce household bills.

Fuel Debt & Tariff Support: Advising on fuel tariffs, payment options, and assisting residents in managing fuel debt or maximizing income.

Outreach & Education: Delivering community workshops and presentations on energy-saving.

Home Surveys: Conducting home visits energy assessments and advise on installing small measures like radiator panels or LED bulbs.

Energy Grants: Assisting residents with applications for funding and financial support schemes for energy efficiency improvements.

Casework Management: Maintaining accurate records of interactions, tracking progress, and delivering against targets. Ability to manage a full and comprehensive caseload in a busy environment is essential

The post involves blended working; with a combination of working remotely from home and office-based casework and outreach work with our partners, so some travel is required.
