Who are we?
We have an exciting opportunity to join a new Strategic Partnership Body responsible for financial inclusion in Glasgow.
We are an independent charity whose aim is to prevent or relieve poverty and child poverty in Glasgow and to promote equality and diversity primarily through the development of early intervention and poverty prevention strategies. Co-ordinating collaboration with key local and strategic partners, to provide financial inclusion for the benefit of individuals who ordinarily reside in Glasgow.
The Strategic Body will make decisions on how money to fund financial inclusion services could be raised and then distributed. Their role will be to protect and promote the best interests of the people of Glasgow in relation to financial inclusion. The Independent Board who will make up the Strategic Body will collaborate with the provider group (GAIN – Glasgow Advice and Information Network) and the funder group who will consist of Glasgow City Council along with additional external funders.
A key function will be to attract additional resources and provide an aligned approach to financial inclusion across the City of Glasgow.
Who are we looking for?
The Financial Inclusion Strategic Body is a brand new organisation and are looking to appoint a total of seven new Directors. We are seeking Directors who can bring different perspectives to help the Body to develop its vision and plans.
The Trustees will support the governance needs and development aims of the organisation.
We welcome applications from anyone who feels passionate about tackling poverty and building a sustainable financial inclusion sector within Glasgow, regardless of professional background. We will expect and support directors to adopt best practice in governance, financial management and building collaboration across funders and providers of Financial Inclusion services. We are committed to finding candidates whose values align with the ethos of the partners establishing the body. We are looking for people who are fair, transparent, diligent, positive influencers and who are willing to contribute to debate.
We want our Board to be representative of our city so would welcome approaches from people who live locally or have lived experience of issues facing our residents. We encourage applications from groups that are under-represented on charity boards, particularly people from Black, Asian, or other minority ethnic communities, as well as young and Disabled people. Who are we looking for?
We happily welcome applications from people who have not sat on a board before. As a new Director, you will be fully inducted and offered training tailored to your level of experience that would support your development in the role.

Time Commitment

Drumchapel Citizens Advice Bureau is seeking new Board Members to join our governing body and support the delivery of vital advice services across Glasgow. About Drumchapel CAB
Drumchapel Citizens Advice Bureau provides free, impartial and confidential advice to people across Glasgow. We help local residents resolve issues around welfare benefits, debt, housing, employment and more — empowering individuals and improving quality of life in our community.
As a leading advice provider in the Glasgow area, we’re supported by a dedicated Board of Directors (Trustees) who bring strategic vision, professional insight and community knowledge. We are now seeking new members to join our Board and help shape the future direction of our organisation.
The Role
As a Board Member, you will play an active part in ensuring that Drumchapel CAB remains effective, accountable and sustainable.
You’ll work collectively with fellow Trustees and the Bureau Manager to:
- Provide strategic leadership and sound governance
- Support the management team to deliver high-quality advice services
- Contribute to decision-making that influences the Bureau’s future direction
- Promote our work within the community and wider networks
Board meetings are held every two months, typically lasting around two hours. Trustees may also choose to join sub-committees or short-term working groups.

Who We’re Looking For
Membership is open to anyone aged 18 or over who lives or works in Glasgow (G1–G15) or neighbouring areas.
We welcome applications from people of all backgrounds — especially those who share our commitment to fairness, inclusion and service excellence.
You don’t need previous Board experience — we’ll provide a full induction and ongoing support.
We’re particularly interested in applicants with experience or insight in any of the following areas:
- Finance or accountancy
- HR and people management
- Fundraising or business development
- Community engagement or public service delivery

Income Maximisation Worker for Families
- Part time
- £32,323 pro-rata
- On site: Penicuik

An experienced adviser is required to improve the financial circumstances of the families supported by Hawthorn Children and Family Centre and Midlothian’s Family Wellbeing Service to improve the outcomes for the children.
The project will work with and receive referrals from Hawthorn Children and Family Centre and the Family Wellbeing Service team members. The worker will link with mental health projects, family support and Penicuik CAB’s specialist debt worker to develop a wraparound service to increase household income and improve the quality of life for the family.
Working closely with other project workers the post holder will provide awareness raising sessions with the Hawthorn Centre staff, Family Wellbeing team members and any other agencies, as appropriate.
Based at the Penicuik CAB, Hawthorn Children and Family Centre and working at any centres deemed appropriate, the worker will provide help and assistance with checking benefit entitlement, completing benefit applications and challenging benefit decisions. The work will also include income maximisation, budgeting advice, utilities and some assistance with debt issues (including housing debt).
A working knowledge and understanding of welfare benefits and good interpersonal skills are essential. The post holder will be responsible for developing and delivering the service to meet the needs of the families.

Our Board of Trustees plays a vital leadership role in the work we do while ensuring the charity is equipped and governed effectively, establishing and monitoring strategy and ensuring we are true to our values and keep carers at the heart of everything we do.

We also deliver financial wellbeing training to professionals, administer our e-learning modules and create a wide range of digital resources so that people can access financial information in a format that is most suited to their needs.
