We have an exciting opportunity for an Infrastructure Engineer to join our ICT team based in North Lanarkshire
The Infrastructure Engineer will join our ICT team, who are responsible for the delivery of key technology services
across the organisation. This includes our cloud infrastructure, networking, security, data platforms, and
end-user services. The role requires both strong technical expertise and business understanding.

You’ll work across Azure infrastructure, networking, and data services to design and deliver solutions that connect
our systems, protect our data, and enable digital transformation. From securing internal integrations to
optimising data pipelines in Azure Data Factory and Azure SQL, you’ll play a critical role in shaping how we use
cloud technology to support our mission.
This is a hands-on role where your problem-solving skills, technical expertise, and security-first mindset will make
a real impact.
About You
What We’re Looking For
- A hands-on technologist with strong knowledge of Azure infrastructure, networking, data platforms and identity
management.
- Comfortable working with Azure Data Factory, Azure SQL, APIs, and cloud
networking.
- Security-focused, with a good understanding of Azure Policy, Defender for Cloud, and
identity/access management.
- Capable of building and supporting integrations between systems (HR,
Finance, M365, third-party APIs, etc).
- A proactive problem-solver who enjoys working on projects,
improvements, and scaling cloud services, not just BAU.
- Strong communicator who can explain technical
designs to both technical and non-technical colleagues.
Core Responsibilities
- Design and deploy scalable solutions using Microsoft Azure
- Design, configure, and maintain Azure
networking components (VNets, NSGs, private endpoints, etc).
- Design, implement, and maintain Azure SQL
solutions, ensuring data is structured, secure, and optimised for reporting and integrations.
- Build,
monitor, and optimise pipelines in Azure Data Factory and Azure SQL.
- Monitor and optimise performance,
cost, and reliability across Azure SQL and Data Factory environments, ensuring solutions scale
effectively.
- Work with internal teams to deliver secure integrations with enterprise
systems.
- Apply and manage governance controls such as Azure Policy, Defender for Cloud, and
RBAC/PIM.
- Contribute to maintaining our Cyber Essentials Plus certification and overall security
posture.
- Work closely with stakeholders to design practical and secure Azure solutions.
- Produce
documentation of designs, processes, and security controls.
- Ensure secure, efficient connectivity across
our cloud estate.
- Automate tasks and processes (Powershell, Python or similar)
Daily Engagements
- Collaborate with the data and infrastructure teams to design and deliver secure cloud solutions.
- Build,
monitor, and troubleshoot pipelines, APIs, and networking configurations.
- Review and implement security
and governance measures to keep our environment compliant and resilient.
- Support data quality,
integrity, and availability by maintaining Azure SQL and monitoring data pipelines.
- Optimise cost,
performance, and reliability of Azure services.
- Provide technical guidance to colleagues and support
knowledge sharing through documentation.
- Explore new Azure features and assess their potential value to
the organisation.
Desired Skills
- Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (ARM, Bicep, Terraform).
- Knowledge of monitoring &
observability tools (Log Analytics, Application Insights).
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines for infra or
data deployments.
- Broader understanding of data services (Data Lake, Synapse, or similar).
