Glasgow Council on Alcohol (GCA) is an independent Scottish charity that works to reduce alcohol and drug-related harm at both individual and community levels. Established in 1965, GCA adopts a long-term, trauma-informed and asset-based approach to changing the culture around substance use. Its services are built on a person-centred, harm-reduction model, supporting people whether their goal is to reduce consumption or achieve abstinence.
GCA offers free, confidential counselling services for people concerned about their own or someone else's drinking. GCA delivers a range of interventions including groupwork and employability support as well as several holistic and inclusive services, such as a women’s service for survivors of gender-based violence, young person’s peer education service, LGBTQ+ health and wellbeing support and tailored wellbeing programmes.
GCA is also a recognised provider of professional development, offering a comprehensive training portfolio including education aimed at increasing awareness of alcohol use and promoting healthier lifestyles, COSCA Counselling Skills and a Diploma in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy.
GCA deliver services over 6 days per week and throughout Glasgow, East Dunbartonshire, and East Renfrewshire, helping people make meaningful, positive changes in their lives.

About the Role:
GCA delivers a high-quality Training & Development programme for our staff and external clients. The Training & Development Officer will design, coordinate and deliver learning programmes for our staff, volunteers and external customers to enhance continuous professional development. You will work in close partnership with our wider management team to guarantee that the workforce is equipped with the essential skills and capabilities to continue to deliver an excellent service for clients and customers.
Alongside this internal focus, a responsibility for the Training & Development Officer will be to generate income for the organisation through the promotion, delivery and expansion of our training courses that focus on the charities Mission & Vision.
The Training & Development Officer will report to the Service Manager – Education & Development.
This post requires a Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme membership - successful applicants will be required to join the PVG Scheme.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver training materials and resources for internal staff, volunteers and external clients
- Organise and deliver an induction programme for staff and volunteers.
- Plan, coordinate and maintain an annual training calendar covering internal and external learning opportunities.
- Support services to develop and implement learning and development plans.
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, progress and evaluation.
- Monitor and report on training activity and performance against any KPI’s.
- Take part in standardisation and quality assurance processes to maintain a high standard of training.
- Build and maintain partnerships with external organisations to increase training reach and impact.
- Promote and deliver external training to support business development and income generation.
- Keep up to date with sector developments, including the Scottish Governments Knowledge and Skills framework for alcohol and drugs workforce.
- Live and promote GCA’s values of Respect, Empathy and Collaboration
- Attend regular training, team meetings, 1:1’s with manager and contribute to course development.
- Undertake any other duties as required by the Service Manager – Education & Development.
Qualifications and Experience:
- A recognised training qualification (e.g. SVQ3 Learning & Development, Training or Education) is desirable
- Experience of working in a Third Sector environment, particularly health, social care or community-based services
- Demonstratable experience of designing, delivering and evaluating training for learners.
- Experience of developing training materials for face to face, digital and blended learning environments.
- Experience of generating income through training delivery or supporting service sustainability is desirable.
- Knowledge of harm reduction principles with a focus on alcohol and other drugs is desirable.
- Proven ability to deliver presentations and workshops to a variety of audiences (internal staff, volunteers and external clients)
- A clean UK driving license and access to a car is desirable.

- Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong facilitation skills and an ability to create engaging and inclusive learning environments for diverse groups.
- Ability to translate subjects, such as Trauma Informed and Motivational Interviewing, into accessible and practical training content.

- Confident in using digital technologies, such as Microsoft Office packages, Zoom & Moodle Learning Management System.
- Knowledge of adult learning principles and group dynamics, including models such as Tuckman, Benne & Sheats, Maslow and VARK.

Job Description
We are looking for a driven, dynamic & compassionate individual to lead our East Dunbartonshire Young People & Family Service. Our service provides free, confidential support to Young People and Families who are affected by their own or a loved ones substance use. We deliver a wide range of interventions including one to one support sessions, structured group-work, wellbeing activities. We can also provide in-house Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
You will strive to work collaboratively with partners and local communities, ensuring that we are as accessible as possible and that we deliver trauma informed support with the principles of a Recovery Oriented System of Care at the heart of all that we do. You will lead your team, providing development and clear direction aligned with the organisational aims and be a strong advocate for WithYou externally, maintaining and building our profile as you go. An SVQ Level 4 in Social Services and Health care & driving licence would be desirable for this post.
This is a permanent, full-time role working 37.5 hours per week between Monday - Friday 9am to 5pm, with some evening and weekend flexibility as required. The salary for this position is £29,272.60 per annum.

About Sunny Cycles
Sunny Cycles is a community-focused cycling organisation which enables people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds to enjoy the mental and physical benefits of cycling and cycling activities. Founded in 2022, we support mental health, social inclusion, and accessibility by providing led rides, cycling lessons, adaptive cycling for disabled people, and creating welcoming spaces for refugees and New Scots. We operate a community hub at Glasgow Green, and Victoria Park offering free or low-cost cycling sessions for individuals facing financial hardship, social isolation, or discrimination. We provide adapted bikes for those who cannot ride standard 2 wheelers and work with individuals and groups within the community to enable people to experience the mental and physical benefits of cycling.
Sunny Cycles operates as a registered charity and a social enterprise. As we grow, we are looking for a Development & Enterprise Officer who can strengthen our income generation pathways and support the long-term sustainability of our work, including our expanding work with disability and care-home cycling programmes.
Role Purpose
The Development & Enterprise Officer will lead on developing and delivering income-generating opportunities that support Sunny Cycles’ mission. This includes building partnerships, developing commercial activities, strengthening our social enterprise offer, managing budgets and ensuring financial sustainability so we can move away from grant funding.
The role is ideal for someone who is proactive, entrepreneurial, and passionate about inclusive cycling and community wellbeing.
Purpose of the Role:
The Volunteer Support Coordinator will develop and enhance Sunny Govan Community Radio’s volunteer programme, providing structured support, training, and development opportunities. The role is critical for creating a high-quality volunteer experience, ensuring volunteers are empowered, valued, and able to contribute meaningfully to the organisation.
The Coordinator will document processes and systems to help the organisation move towards the ‘Investing in Volunteers’ (IiV) standard, the UK quality standard for good practice in volunteer management. Working towards IiV demonstrates our commitment to providing an outstanding volunteer experience, shows volunteers and potential volunteers how much they are valued, and provides confidence in Sunny Govan Community Radio’s ability to deliver effective volunteer support.
The role will also provide targeted support for volunteers facing barriers, including those in recovery, with mental health challenges, disabilities, or learning difficulties. It will support volunteers in achieving recognised awards, such as the Saltire Award or the King’s Award for Volunteering.
Key Responsibilities
Volunteer Recruitment & Induction
- Recruit 21 new volunteers from across Govan and the surrounding areas, ensuring diversity and inclusion, with priority for those experiencing disadvantage and barriers to volunteering. Priority groups include people in recovery, asylum seekers and refugees and women and girls.
- Deliver inductions, including safeguarding, health & safety, and office and broadcasting procedures.
- Ensure volunteers understand their roles, responsibilities, and organisational expectations.
Volunteer Support & Development
- Provide one-to-one or small group support and supervision for new volunteers and 100 existing volunteers, including regular well-being check-ins.
- Develop Personal Development Plans where appropriate — prioritising new volunteers seeking structured development, awards, or facing barriers.
- Support volunteers to access accredited volunteering awards (Saltire / King’s Award).
- Monitor and review volunteer progress, providing constructive feedback.
- Develop new volunteering opportunities aligned to volunteer interests, abilities, and organisational needs.

Housing Support Workers (Female Only)

Elpis Trust delivers a person centred housing support service to 19 young women who are experiencing homelessness or are care leavers aged between 16-25 years. The supported accommodation is based in the Core service and satellite flats in the Ruchill and Maryhill area of Glasgow. Elpis provides a high-quality support service which addresses young woman’ identified and assessed needs and reflects the aims of the service to work within relevant organisational and statutory policies, including health and safety, employment and equality laws. This includes adhering to Scottish Social Services Council codes of practice, National Care Standards and contractual requirements. Staffs work closely with the young women to write up support plans and deliver an individually tailored service, utilising Ladders to Success and GIRFEC, SHANARRI Outcomes.
Job Purpose:
To have specific working responsibility at present for 19 vulnerable young women, 9 living in the Core building and 10 in scatter flats (to include mother & baby flats) in the Ruchill and Maryhill areas of Glasgow.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to young women who have experienced homelessness and/or have a variety of complex emotional and mental health needs.
- Provide support to young women in all areas of service.
- Establish a supportive relationship with each young woman, enabling them to maximise their own resources in order to improve their quality of life, and to assist each young woman to be as independent as possible in all aspects of their daily life, in line with their support plans.
- On a daily basis assist and support young women to carry out identified housing support tasks to ensure that they maintain and sustain their accommodation and be flexible and responsive to meet the changing needs of the young women, as well as the housing support service itself.
- Problem solve unexpected and difficult issues that may arise during shift and deal with challenging behaviour when lone working, use own initiative in order to support the young women’s complex issues, and make decisions based on current assessments of risk, following set risk assessments protocols and procedures.
- Resolve complex young women issues, involving discussion with colleagues and relevant agencies through reviews and meetings, ensuring correct procedures are followed.
- Risk assess young woman’s needs and actions and consult with appropriate people such as line manager, social worker, case worker.
- Complete and update all relevant paperwork including housing support plans, risk assessments and case notes for each young woman, complying with National Care Standards, SSSC Codes of Practice, GIRFEC model of outcomes (SHANARRI) to ensure person centred service delivery and to meet service aims.
- Complete regular health and safety welfare checks of the young women, the building environment and equipment, reporting and dealing with any issues raised during these checks.
- Inform line management of any areas of concern or significant change when delivering young women support, to ensure that appropriate risk assessment is undertaken.
- Carry out all duties in compliance with Elpis Trust’s policies and procedures.
- Actively participate in 3 monthly support, supervision and observation.
- Work closely with and with direction from the Duty Manager, to plan and deliver young women’s identified support needs.
- Work co-operatively as part of a team including attending and contributing to team meetings and work in co-operation with other members of the support team, as well as colleagues from other agencies.
- Communicate in a knowledgeable, confident and professional manner with external agencies, including social workers, case work team, commissioning team, carers and relatives of young women. This may include email, telephone calls, letters or face to face meetings.
- Communicate with other team members in a respectful and supportive manner in order to promote positive team work and cohesion.
- Ensure the young women’s views and wishes are central to your work and encourage a high level of young women participation.
- To actively participate in identified training, on-going supervision and performance development.

Knowledge, education, qualifications, competences and experience:
Essential:
- Membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups Scheme.
- Able to meet registration requirements with Scottish Social Services Council, Health and Social Care at S.V.Q. level 3, or be willing to achieve qualifications within specified timescale.
- Have an awareness of relevant National Care Standards and their application to work practice.
- Understand and adhere to the Codes of Practice from Scottish Social Services Council.
- Willing to maintain and enhance own knowledge, practice and competency.
- Previous experience working in Social Care.
- Be registered with SSSC or apply for registration within three months of start date.
Desirable:
