About the Role
As our Head of Policy and Communications, you will lead the strategy and delivery of SDF’s policy influence and communications. You’ll manage a talented team and ensure that our work - from research reports to social media - reaches and resonates with key audiences including policymakers, practitioners, media, and people with lived and living experience.
This role offers an exciting opportunity to be the voice behind one of Scotland’s most respected drugs policy organisations - ensuring our messages are powerful, clear, and grounded in evidence and compassion.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead SDF’s policy and practice activity, shaping our response to government proposals and driving proactive policy development.
- Oversee and develop all communications work, including our website, social media, newsletters, member engagement, and the production of reports, resources, and publications.
- Manage SDF’s media relations, handling both proactive and reactive press activity with confidence and credibility.
- Line-manage the Communications Team, including our Content Creator and Editor and Peer Engagement Officer (peer magazine), Communication and Design Officer, and Communications Worker — ensuring coordinated, high-impact work.

About Scottish Huntington’s Association
As the only organisation in Scotland exclusively dedicated to the country’s Huntington’s community, Scottish Huntington’s Association is recognised at national and international levels for its impact and approach. Our specialist staff deliver care and support that improves the lives of young people growing up in Huntington’s families, people with the disease or facing the onset of symptoms, those who are at risk of developing the condition, and carers. Furthermore, we are trusted by NHS and care providers to deliver Huntington’s disease training to practitioners including hundreds of nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, and care home staff.

About you
You will possess outstanding leadership and interpersonal skills in addition to a deep passion for motivating teams to fight for and deliver the best possible outcomes for families living with Huntington’s disease in Scotland.
You will also demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, be analytical, data-driven, results-focused, and detail-oriented with ability to effectively prioritise your workload – all while mentoring your teams to do the same.
You will be confident working with colleagues at all levels across the organisation, contribute positively to our inclusive and supportive workplace culture, promote collaborative working, and able to advocate and influence on behalf of our community to external partners and agencies.

Elevate is one service with two routes to employability: Elevate Glasgow PSP and the Recovery Employability Service. This role is based within the Elevate Glasgow PSP team. The Elevate PSP team work with those in the earlier stages of their employability journey working on building up confidence, training, education and volunteering. Elevate offer a person-centred approach to individuals in their employability journey. This team are also often out in the community networking with our partners within the drug and alcohol sector.
Elevate is an employability service for people in recovery from drugs and/or alcohol. We are delighted that we are now able to extend the service to include aftercare provision for those in work to include those affected by poor mental health or have experience of homelessness or the criminal justice service as well as those in recovery.
The Employability Support Worker will make a real impact to individuals’ day to day lives as they uniquely tailor their personal development, offer emotional and practical support and set realistic goals as part of their journey to employability opportunities.

What is The Role
As a member of the Corporate Leadership Team, reporting directly to the Director of Service Delivery, your primary role is to oversee national services and programmes across Scotland and provide strategic support to service delivery. However, you will also work closely with Heads of Service supporting localities, working together to provide a holistic, integrated support to our service users and supporting all Service Delivery staff and volunteers as part of #OneVSS team approach. You will be responsible for ensuring, within your areas of responsibility, that VSS’s strategic objectives are being implemented and will have a key role in developing future strategies and business planning to ensure that the needs of victims and witnesses are being met.
What You’ll Need to be Successful
We are looking for an experienced and transformational leader. Someone who will relish the opportunity to shape the delivery of the VSS vision and strategic priorities. You will be working alongside colleagues and partner agencies to deliver for victims and witnesses and have a relevant post-graduate professional qualification and/or experience in relation to research and designing service pathways. An innovative thinker with strong communication skills and experience of partnership working. Evidence of Continuing Professional Development is essential.

We are committed to establishing a comprehensive training department designed to strengthen expertise and skills through tailored educational solutions, benefiting both our internal team and external partners.
Main duties/responsibility:
We are seeking a dynamic Development Lead to drive the growth of our training division, expanding our portfolio of high-quality, accredited training programmes and developing our retainer services specifically tailored for companies utilising our Employee Assistance Programme (EAP) to address problematic alcohol or substance use among employees. This pivotal role will emphasise business development, establishing strong external partnerships, and ensuring our training solutions align effectively with the evolving needs of our sector and clients throughout Scotland.
The ideal candidate will be commercially astute, possess exceptional communication skills, and have a proven track record of increasing revenue through training delivery, product innovation, retainer growth, and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the strategic expansion of the training department, creating a sustainable income stream.
- Identify, pursue, and secure new clients and markets for our accredited and skills-based training programmes and EAP retainer services.
- Develop and nurture strategic partnerships with local authorities, NHS organisations, third-sector bodies, and corporate clients across Scotland.
- Meet and exceed annual sales targets, providing regular performance and pipeline updates.
Reporting Relationships:

Essential Skills and Qualifications:
