Role

We are looking to recruit a Cancer Support Worker to join our team and support the delivery of our Westerhaven Cancer Information and Support Centre.

Westerhaven offers a wide range of specialist support services to those affected by cancer and long-term conditions such as COPD or heart failure. We also provide a service to relatives, carers, and friends of anyone who has received a diagnosis and as well as anyone bereaved due to cancer.

The Health Agency is a community led organisation and a registered charity. We address local health inequalities by working to improve the life circumstances that cause poor health in the community. We try to reduce the severity of health and social consequences of inequalities, help individuals and communities resist the effects of inequality on health and wellbeing and encourage collective action that will strengthen local democracy in Wester Hailes.

The successful candidate will be a highly organised and responsible individual, who enjoys working in a varied and flexible role, with an ability to work effectively as part of a team as well as under their own initiative.

The post holder must have a strong understanding of the challenges faced by people affected by cancer and long-term conditions and have highly effective interpersonal skills in working with people on a 1:1 basis and with organisations.

The post holder will be based in our office in the Wester Hailes Healthy Living Centre in Wester Hailes.
