The Role:

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Award Winning Fundraising Community and Events Team as a Community Fundraiser. We are seeking a highly motivated, creative, outgoing individual with hands on experience in community fundraising.

Based in the Erskine Home, the post holder will ensure Erskine achieve fundraising targets and develop long-term, sustainable relationships with supporters through a variety of fundraising and awareness raising activities to achieve its charitable aims. Erskine must raise over £10 million in voluntary income per year and this role plays an important part in achieving that goal.

This role is part of our vibrant Community & Events Team, working to maximise all forms of income and potential income for Erskine by targeting organisations, groups & associations, individuals and authorities within the designated focus area. The post holder will act as a motivator and support to help facilitate activity by volunteers and fundraisers, inspiring and stewarding them to generate the greatest return in support of our Veterans.

The successful candidate will have events, community and/or fundraising experience and be educated to degree level or equivalent. Excellent project planning, interpersonal, communication and written skills together with good IT skills are essential for this post. Attention to detail in carrying out a range of administrative tasks is crucial, as is the ability to work flexibly as part of a small team. Experience of Raiser’s Edge would be an advantage although training will be provided if necessary. A full driving licence is required and evening/weekend working is frequently required.

Complementing our medical and psychological services, our travel clinic is based at Carberry near Edinburgh and is open 3 days per week (currently Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday). Regulated by Healthcare Improvement Scotland, we provide individual tailored travel health consultations, travel health advice and vaccinations to clients travelling for both work and leisure. Our clients consist of mission and humanitarian agencies and their personnel, GAP year organisations, those in church leadership, families, young people as well as members of the general public.

About the role

The role, which is based in our Carberry travel clinic will see you meeting with clients to provide comprehensive travel health consultations contextualised to their needs and travel plans. You will provide them with the necessary information to enable them to make an informed decision regarding travel health treatments and preventative measures. You’ll deliver risk assessment information, and will issue vaccinations and appropriate medications following agreed protocols, patient group or patient specific directions. You will maintain clear and accurate clinical records according to written protocols. You will report to the Medical Co-ordinator overseeing the travel clinic. You will have the opportunity to participate in regular team training and other learning activities. You will contribute to HealthLink360’s continued good practice in areas such as infection control, pharmacy compliance and vaccines management, through the use of audit and service development.

Authorised to practise in the UK, as either a Registered Nurse with current NMC registration, you will bring relevant experience to support your interest in travel health medicine.

We are ideally looking to appoint 2 part time roles (to work over Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday) as follows:

• 2 days per week (15 hours per week)

• 1 day per week (7.5 hours per week).

Both posts were developed jointly by representatives of these communities working alongside Foundation Scotland and Healthy Valleys.

One post is 35hrs per week and will support the communities of Douglas and Glespin. The role has been made possible through Coalburn, Douglas and Glespin (CDG) community benefit funds (Nadara Galawhistle Wind Farm and Greencoat UK Wind Douglas West Wind Farm).

One post is 17.5hrs per week and will support the communities of Blackwood, Kirkmuirhill and Boghead. This role has been made possible through the Nadara Auchrobert Wind Farm Community Fund.

Each successful candidate will help support and build the capacity of the respective communities, support new and existing local community groups, help local groups and organisations identify, develop and fund projects in line with local priorities within the Community Action Plans and will catalyse and encourage community volunteers to take ideas forward.
