Role

A fantastic opportunity is available for a Project and Office Coordinator to join the SSAFA Glasgow’s Helping Heroes team.

You will be the first point of contact for queries to the Glasgow’s Helping Heroes office, including arranging and updating appointments, in person and digitally. You will triage enquiries and determine the most appropriate way to assist the beneficiary. This could include a referral to a specialist service within the team immediately, by booking an appointment or by referring to a partner organisation.

We have a number of exciting projects to support our beneficiaries, such as our inclusive curling sessions and our Glasgow Veterans United football project. You will organise, co-ordinate and support delivery for these vital projects, which will be extremely rewarding. You will maintain our social media accounts and collaborate with staff to create relevant and exciting content. You will also manage and co-ordinate a range of administrative duties to support the Office Manager and the Glasgow’s Helping Heroes office.

As well as working directly with our veterans, service personnel and their families, this role will involve working with partnership organisations. This will allow you to build a strong network of contacts within the Armed Forces Community in and around the Glasgow area to support our beneficiaries.

Although this post is office based, there is flexibility to work remotely when needed.

About the team

SSAFA Glasgow’s Helping Heroes is a partnership between SSAFA, the Armed Forces Charity and Glasgow City Council. We were created in 2010, but our service has never been more vital than it is now.

In this role you will be working alongside a hard-working, supportive, knowledgeable and successful staff team, with specialist knowledge around areas such as Housing, Mental Health, Employability and Financial advice. There will be opportunities to learn and grow professionally as a result of the knowledge in the team, and you will work closely with them to help them achieve excellence in everything they do to support our beneficiaries.

About you

To thrive in this role, you will have relevant experience in an office administrative role, have the ability to establish good relationships and enjoy working as part of a team to support others. Having good organisation skills and a high attention to detail is essential.

You will have used Microsoft Office 365 to a high level and be proficient in applications such as Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Excel, Word and OneDrive. You should also be diplomatic, resilient and have the ability to manage challenging situations.

Most importantly, you should be passionate about supporting our veterans, service personnel and their families in their time of need.

This role is working in partnership with Jobs & Business Glasgow (JBG) therefore applicants must be eligible for the scheme to be able to apply. More information can be found here: https://www.jbg.org.uk/.
