Glencassels Community Development Project (GCDP) is a well-established project located in the housing scheme of Craigneuk, near to Wishaw. This small Neighbourhood Centre, known locally as ‘The Venny’, presently provides a range of recreational, social and educational programmes for children, young people and adults and a Community Café for all ages. We believe that it has the potential to make an even greater contribution to this community and as part of fulfilling this vision we seek a suitably qualified and experienced Childrens Worker. Funding for this post is presently in place for 18 Months, with continued funding anticipated.

We are seeking to appoint an experienced worker to manage and develop after school and early evening clubs for children aged 5-10 years. The Venny has a long tradition of running children’s clubs, in this community. The person appointed will be line managed and have the support of the Project Leader. They will have a small team of Sessional staff plus volunteers. It is anticipated that this 18 hours per week post will be worked over 3 days.

The Childrens Worker will work with the Board, The Project Leader and in collaboration with the local community in providing high quality programmes for children in this community. This will be delivered primarily through clubs in the Venny but with scope and flexibility to develop outdoor children’s activities, seasonal activities, outings and trips.

The Project Leader will work with the Board and in collaboration with the local community in further developing the GCDP (The Venny) as a key resource for children, young people and adults living in Craigneuk.

This role is part of the Community Renewal Lifting Neighbourhoods Together team. This team brings together community workers and transformative caseworkers with specialist knowledge of different ways to support people in deprived neighbourhoods – for example welfare rights, employability, community food and health/mental health.

A five year grant from National Lottery Community Fund is core to enabling this team to operate in a different methodology which is deeply aligned with Community Renewal Trust’s core approach and values as described above.

This role is a fixed term activity to:

- Recruit a cohort of additional volunteers to support activities and services in the community.

- Ensure the best possible support is available to existing volunteers in the area to consider their needs and aspirations.

- Create an effective volunteer recruitment, on-boarding and retention process and increase knowledge in the team of these topics.

- Provide training and support training to volunteers in leading listening conversations and holistic conversations.

- Learn from work in Walker to make good use of volunteers in a Lifting Neighbourhoods Together approach and share this with the team.

We are seeking a full time family worker who is passionate about developing and delivering a family programme at Church House.

The main role is to develop the family programme of activities, provide support for family groups and individual families, to meet their ongoing needs.

This is a unique role with high-levels of responsibility in an exciting environment.

We would require you to work alongside a vibrant and enthusiastic staff team and volunteers.

The successful applicant will be required to be(come) a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Scheme and the appointment will be subject to a satisfactory PVG Scheme Disclosure and references. We will not take up references until a job offer is made.
