Shared Care Scotland are recruiting new volunteers for the Short Breaks Fund Grants Allocation Panel (GAP).

Our ideal candidate will demonstrate dedication, fairness and impartiality in their approach to the role. They will bring excellent analytical and communication skills to the panel and should have a detailed knowledge of the third sector in Scotland.

Application notes

We would love to hear about the skills and expertise which you can bring to the role. Please answer the following questions, drawing on your professional, personal and any voluntary experience which you feel is relevant. We would encourage you to refer to the GAP role profile in your responses and advise a limit of 500 words per answer.

  1. Our funding programmes are oversubscribed, and difficult decisions do need to be made when distributing the available funding. What would be your approach towards prioritising funding applications and why?
  2. What knowledge or experience do you have of the third sector and how does it relate to this role?
  3. Do you have knowledge or experience of providing unpaid care or supporting those who provide unpaid care? How would this knowledge or experience help with making funding decisions on short breaks activities?

Please return your responses by email to the Short Breaks Fund Manager, Ailbhe Hendry ailbhe.hendry@sharedcarescotland.com

If you have any queries about the role, please email Ailbhe.

The deadline for applications is Monday 6th November 2023, at 5pm.

About Shared Care Scotland

Shared Care Scotland is a dynamic and ambitious charity dedicated to improving the quality and provision of short breaks in Scotland for adult and young carers and the people they help care for. It is estimated there are 700,000 to 800,000 unpaid carers in Scotland, often forgoing their own free time and recreation to ensure a loved one has personal and attentive support regardless of when its required.

Shared Care Scotland manages the Shorts Breaks Fund on behalf of Scottish Government by providing grants to third sector organisations that support breaks from caring. For carers, and for the people they care for, regular access to flexible, personalised short breaks, as part of a wider package of assistance, is essential to good health and wellbeing, and enables carers to have a life alongside their caring responsibilities.
