Role
The Super Power Agency is a creative and exciting charity who support children and young people to find their voice through literacy.
We are looking for 4 new board members to join our Board of Directors! We have ambitious plans to increase the number of children and young people that have access to our writing programmes. We believe in people over CVs so if you enjoy a challenge and are ready to ‘roll up your sleeves’, please do get in touch.
This is an unpaid position with a time commitment of four board meetings a year (in the evenings 5-7pm) and one weekend away day. Full training is given.
Who are we?
The Super Power Agency works with Scotland’s most disadvantaged and under-resourced young people to increase writing skills. Our creative writing workshops make learning fun, and our writing mentors instil confidence. We encourage pupils to put pen to paper, build their writing skills and express themselves.
Founded in 2016, the SPA has worked with more than 4,000 young people. The organisation follows a tried and tested model started in America, 826 National, which has since been adopted by more than 50 organisations worldwide.
We have worked with more than 20 primary and high schools in Edinburgh, Dunfermline, Musselburgh, Peebles, and Clackmannanshire. We also work with community organisations and have conducted our programmes at the Borders Book Festival, Edinburgh International Book Festival and the North Edinburgh Arts Festival.
Who are you?
The Board supports the work of the Super Power Agency and provides mission-based leadership and strategic governance. While day-to-day operations are led by the Managing Director, the Board-MD relationship is a partnership, and the appropriate involvement of the Board is both critical and expected. Specific Board Member responsibilities includes:
First and foremost, be passionate about the life-changing mission of the SPA. Be an advocate. Be present and participate. Bring your expertise.
- Establish annual and long-term goals and plans in partnership with the MD and staff to ensure the greatest reach and quality in programme fulfilment.
- Ensure SPA commitment to a diverse board and staff that reflects the communities the organisation serves.
- Serve on committees or task forces and taking on special assignments.
- Monitor and assess fundraising efforts in context to expected strategy and goal achievement throughout the year
- Attend SPA fundraising events.
- Volunteer for SPA workshops and programming
- Leverage community and corporate contacts on behalf of the SPA.
This is an extraordinary opportunity for an individual who is passionate about the Super Power Agency’s mission.
No previous board experience is required but we are particularly interested to hear from:
- People who have worked at a senior level in the charity sector
- People with financial knowledge and expertise
- People with retail experience
- People who have teaching experience or who work in education
- People with expertise in law
- People with general business experience

Arts Culture Health & Wellbeing Scotland (ACHWS) are looking to recruit a new Chair and several new Trustees to join our Board of Trustees in 2026.
If you are passionate about the role of arts and culture in health and wellbeing outcomes, want to help shape the future of culture and health collaboration in Scotland, support the engagement with the growing membership and make a difference at a local and national level, we’d love to hear from you.
ACHWS is Scotland’s national network linking together, advocating for and supporting those working at the interface of arts, culture, health and wellbeing in Scotland. We seek to advance health and wellbeing in Scotland through the promotion and practice of arts and cultural work across a range of health, social, cultural, care and community contexts. Our vision is for arts and culture to be recognised as transformative to health and wellbeing and accessible to everyone in Scotland.
Applications are welcome from across Scotland with option to join meetings by Zoom with in-person attendance at one meeting per year and board away day. Travel, accommodation and childcare expenses are available for all meetings for those who live outwith Edinburgh, as well as support with access requirements and reasonable adjustments.
Ochil Tower School offers highly personalised residential care and education for children and young people aged 8-21 with complex additional support needs. Our welcoming and supportive community is based in a parkland location in Perthshire where our central values are living, learning and growing together. We currently have four residential houses accommodating 15 young people plus two day pupils.
An opportunity has arisen for a Head of Care at the school. The post holder will drive forward the continuing improvement of our residential provision to ensure we provide the highest quality of care for our children and young people. They will work collaboratively with the Head of Education and the Executive Director and carry the responsibilities of the Registered Care Manager.

This is a voluntary role requiring attendance at trustee meetings (around 5 per year) and occasional input between meetings.

Ask & Act Education Manager

Who We Are

Context
Rock Trust delivers the Upstream prevention project in schools and the post holder will work with the Upstream Team, pilot schools and education departments to create a toolkit for the implementation of Upstream. This will involve working with current pilot schools to document the changes required in school systems, the challenges and how to overcome them and an assessment of the resources required to deliver Upstream. The Ask & Act Education Manager will use this learning to create a toolkit and implementation plan to be used for national implementation.
This role is responsible for:
- Coordinating work with multiple local authority Education departments, senior leaders and cross-sector partners (Housing, Social Work, Health, third sector)
- Designing and documenting processes, guidance and training materials that enable schools to embed early identification of housing risk
- Capturing learning, gathering data and producing a national implementation framework
- Ensuring all activity aligns with statutory duties, local contexts and Rock Trust’s prevention approach
The Ask & Act Education Manager will need to be methodical, have strong report writing skills and interpersonal skills to co-ordinate the information gathering and documenting. They will be responsible for delivering the toolkit to a high standard, making a lasting contribution to Scotland’s homelessness prevention system.
