Aura is commissioned by North Lanarkshire Council to provide an inclusive domestic abuse support service supporting anyone over the age of 16 affected by domestic abuse. Information can be found on our website aura.scot

Domestic Abuse is a pattern of controlling, coercive, threatening, degrading and/or violent behaviour, including sexual violence, by a partner or ex-partner.

The Domestic Abuse Support worker role will have a focus on Outreach Support to ensure the provision of practical and emotional support, advice, and advocacy on matters such as safety planning and management of risks. Domestic Abuse affects individuals in a myriad of ways therefore a knowledge and awareness of Housing, Welfare benefits, legal options, Health and substance issues would be advantageous.

You will operate within the Scottish Government’s Equally Safe Strategy as well as Sacro’s policies and procedures and will escalate any safety/well-being concerns around adult and child protection to the Team Leader/Service Manager. You will be responsible for monitoring individual’s well-being throughout their journey within the service and for making appropriate follow-on referrals to relevant services as required.

You must have experience of providing outreach to ‘hard-to-reach’ groups, as well as an excellent understanding of the support needs of individuals experiencing domestic abuse. You will possess excellent communications skills, be highly organised and have effective casework management skills. Partnership work is crucial, and you will be expected to work closely and foster good relationships with our colleagues from partner agencies. Experience of working in the Gender Based Violence field is desirable but training will be provided. A sound understanding of GDPR and confidentiality is necessary.

Membership of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme is a requirement this post.

Full, UK driver’s license and access to own vehicle is essential. Some evening work may be expected for this post.
