Role Purpose

This newly created role will enhance our commitment to improving equity, diversity and inclusion (ED&I), supporting Volunteers Matters to be a great place to work and volunteer for all. The role will support our Head of Communities and Inclusion and our current and quickly developing work on ED&I. The work will include planning, coordinating and delivering a calendar of diversity events throughout the year, realising our ambition to truly be a disability confident employer and creating spaces for ED&I learning conversations. The role will also champion internal ED&I initiatives whilst having an opportunity to contribute and co-produce future ED&I events.

Key Duties Responsibilities

  • Support with ED&I planning and delivery
  • Provide administrative support for staff led diversity networks as and when required
  • Assist with planning, development, coordination and communication of ED&I initiatives and events
  • Develop external relationships with key ED&I support networks across the UK
  • Support colleagues and volunteers with ED&I enquiries
  • Support with the internal tracking of ED&I data, and producing regular reports
  • Provide general administrative support on EDI related work

Experience/Skills/Attributes

  • A good awareness of Equality legislation
  • A commitment to promoting equity, diversity and inclusion
  • A good understanding of embedding diversity and inclusion initiatives
  • Ability to use online tools to create promotional materials, set up online meetings etc
  • Experience of organising meetings, groups, events
  • Experience of promoting initiatives using social media platforms and Teams
  • Able to plan and prioritise with a reflective learning approach
  • Open approach towards internal and external stakeholder engagement
  • Good administrative and IT skills

Qualifications

Relevant experience and values alignment is more important for this role than specific qualifications.

DBS/ PVG

This role doesn’t require full DBS/ PVG clearance.

Location

The post will be home based, or office based. The postholder will need internet access to enable remote working. I.T. equipment and infrastructure will be supplied. There is an expectation that occasional travel across UK will be required.
