The STV Children’s Appeal is one of Scotland’s leading broadcast charities and is committed to helping children and young people affected by poverty in Scotland. By utilising our assets as Scotland’s commercial broadcaster we raise funds which help make a real difference to the lives of Scotland’s children and young people affected by poverty. Our ambition is to grow our fundraising portfolio to ensure our continued growth and impact.

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Fundraising & Events Manager to join the STV Children’s Appeal team. You’ll be responsible for pro-actively seeking fundraising opportunities and developing strong relationships with the general public, schools, community groups and workplaces.

Key responsibilities:

  • Diversify the STV Appeal’s income by securing fundraisers from corporates, local businesses, events and community participation.
  • Develop and maintain a pipeline of potential new supporters.
  • Create compelling pitches to engage and secure new fundraisers.
  • Work collaboratively with new and existing corporate and community partners to develop creative fundraising campaigns to engage employees and customers.
  • Plan, create and promote a calendar of fundraising events and challenges.
  • Lead on developing our existing events and campaigns, including the Kiltwalk, The Big Scottish Breakfast
  • Identify and submit applications to corporate foundations.
  • Represent The STV Appeal internally and externally at meetings, events and project visits to help build and strengthen profile.
  • Attend STV Appeal networking and influencer events.
  • Provide excellent fundraising materials and stewardship
  • Monitor, review and evaluate fundraising activities and provide analysis to partners.
  • Work with the STV production team to deliver fundraising activity for the annual telethon.
  • Assist with any other aspect of the work of the company as reasonably required.

Skills and experience:

  • Demonstrable experience of fundraising within a charity, events or corporate role is essential.
  • Project management experience; planning and logistical delivery of large-scale events.
  • Proven track record of seeking, securing and nurturing corporate sponsors/partners.
  • Ability to collaborate and develop strong relationships with senior external and internal stakeholders, donors and volunteers.
  • Knowledge and understanding of fundraising best practice, methodologies and approaches.
  • Experience of budget management, financial forecasting, working to KPI’s, reporting and evaluations.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to problem solve and find creative solutions.
  • Strong networking and influencing skills.
  • A commitment to the STV Children’s Appeal core values and objectives.
  • A full clean driving license is essential for this role.
  • Clear self-motivation and an ability to work as part of a team or own initiative.
