Role

Join the Board of CoHousing for Independent Living.

Lead the development of innovative community-led housing for people with Down’s Syndrome in Scotland.

CoHousing for Independent Living (CHIL) is a new SCIO (SC051399) established in 2021 to provide independent living opportunities for people with Down’s Syndrome in Scotland, through an innovative community-led housing model. Our ambition is for individuals with Down’s Syndrome to have real choice of accommodation and support, which enables them to live their best life and play an active part in their community.

CHIL has been founded by the families of young people with Down’s Syndrome. We have established significant demand and support for our model from the Down’s Syndrome community, and the model is being developed with support from community-led housing professionals.

We are now seeking experienced Board Members to help develop our strategy, secure funding and get our first project out of the ground.

It’s an exciting time for our organisation, and for you to be part of shaping its future. If you share our ambition and vision for better lives for people with Down’s Syndrome in Scotland, and have an interest in ensuring good governance, we would love to hear from you.
