Role

Brothers of Charity have been a major provider of care services in the Scottish Borders for almost 70 years. They are a charity with a long tradition and a modern outlook that are continually looking to improve and develop the support they offer. The organisation in its current form is a registered charity and private company limited by guarantee which shares a common bond and vision with the international organisations of Brothers of Charity Services.

With over 200 staff and providing a variety of support services from supported living, social enterprise run cafes, care homes, training and development and short breaks, their aim is to offer bespoke care to each individual service user. The staff are passionate about supporting people to live life to the full, and to always experience being respected, cared about, valued and included.

The organisation is entering an exciting time of development as they look to expand in different areas, including wider geography, more services and broadening the age profile of service users. The Learning and Development Manager will play a key role in this through promoting and embedding a clear learning culture.

Reporting to the ‘Development & Quality’, Senior Manager and with three direct reports, we are looking for an experienced L & D professional, ideally with experience within the care sector. Working directly with both managers, staff and service users, the post holder will have the drive to develop new training and learner journeys while supporting their team. This requires exceptional communication skills, a desire to innovate, motivate, empower and produce results that add real value for our service users.

The role is varied and challenging, and it involves working closely with other managers in the development of new training, the continual improvement of current training and requires a confident individual that can lead, motivate and enthuse staff and service users in order to increase participation throughout the organisation.

The Learning and Development Manager will be engaging and driven to succeed, with a strong belief in the work of the organisation and impact their role will have. They will have the determination to maintain ‘Gold Standard’ training and development which meets current needs and is future focussed.
