Role

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Cafe Manager to oversee the smooth and efficient running of the Halliday Foundation's Cafe, 'CommuniTea', which provides hot and cold food and drinks to customers. The Cafe Manager will be responsible for cooking and preparing food and ensure that the cafe operates with a 'Zero Waste' theme, using recyclable products at affordable prices.

The Café Manager will report director to the Director of Operations.

Working hours (38hpw): Tuesday to Friday 7am to 3:30pm & Saturday 8:30am to 3pm

Salary: £24,700 per annum

Overtime: As and when required and will be paid at basic rate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide line management to a team of volunteers and ensure that they are adequately trained and developed.
  • To deliver the day to day running of the community café cooking and preparing meals with support from a community café assistant and a team of dedicated volunteers.
  • Be responsible for organising the work of volunteers working in the community café and ensuring that they are supported and mentored.
  • To support the development of the community projects and the expansion of the involvement of local people in the café to expand its social offer
  • Prepare and serve nutritionally balanced and attractive presented food on a daily basis to all customers.
  • Be responsible for efficiency, hygiene and safety in the community café area.
  • Participate in team meetings and training where required.
  • Ensure the café is adequately stocked and maintain a close relationship with suppliers.
  • Organise and deliver catering events to customers.
  • Plan different deals and discount to attract potential customers.
  • Create zero waste dishes as daily/weekly specials.
  • Organise community events with donated produce.
  • Provide regular reporting to the Director of Operations.
  • Stock check and rotate stock on a weekly basis and coordinate with suppliers of stock when required.
  • Operating in a clean working environment.
  • Carrying out deep cleans on a regular basis.
  • Coordinating with volunteers according to different shifts and confirm availability.
  • Maintain the standard and quality of the services provided.
  • Dealing with customers in a professional manner and maintain exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ensuring smooth operations of our café when we are understaffed.
  • Be mindful of allergies

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Experience in operating and managing a similar operation
  • Food and Hygiene certification (essential)
  • Allergen awareness
  • Experience in cash handling
  • Good customer service experience

The successful candidate will be energetic and very creative with a focus on seasonal foods.
