Role
Our Stafford Centre Support Service in Edinburgh is looking for a skilled Cook to prepare delicious meals in our Café. You will work alongside our Café volunteers and be an integral part of the staff team.
In this role, you will be responsible for preparing nutritious meals on a daily basis. You will also work alongside the staff team in supporting people directly affected by mental health issues.
As an enthusiastic and committed person, you will be part of a vibrant team working in our Café. You will work alongside and support our Café volunteers. You will be responsible for preparing meals, and serving meals to people who use our service.
You will have excellent communication skills; have a good knowledge of mental health issues, have a good understanding of boundaries and confidentiality. You will be able to work independently and be an active team member. You will have a good knowledge of Office 365 and associated software.
Reporting to: Area Manager
Responsibilities
- Prepare and cook fresh food from scratch using fresh produce
- Ensure that the kitchen equipment and utensils are all properly cleaned and correctly stored away at the end of the day
- Monitor stock and place orders when needed
- Work within a limited budget
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
- Ensure up to date food temperature logs are kept
- Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
- Ensure that all personal and food hygiene procedures are applied at all times

- Undertake any reasonable instruction given by your Manager to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of your role
- Complete the induction process, attend training, attend meetings, identify areas for self-development/further training, and actively contribute towards supervisions and annual appraisals.

About the role:
Responsible for administration and support within the finance department to help ensure the smooth running of the charity’s financial systems, records and procedures.
I deliver accurate, efficient, and high quality financial and payroll administration in accordance with procedures, legal requirements and best practice.
Provides a point of contact for suppliers to the organisation and processes invoices and requests.
Supports the payroll process.
Responds to routine enquiries from staff and stakeholders and support them with using systems and processes as necessary. I do data entry and verification.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with supplier input, payments, invoice approval and reconciliation as required for the organisation – process expenses, invoices and other payments in Accounts IQ for payment in a timely and accurate manner and code to the appropriate cost heading
- Support the finance team colleagues in providing information to other parties as appropriate e.g. budget holding colleagues, fundraising colleagues or external auditors.
- Address enquires from staff around benefits, payroll, holidays and pensions and suppliers
- Support HR with staff onboardings as necessary and ensuring that HR systems and Finance systems match to ensure accurate payroll information is sent to the payroll provider
- Support to ensure that all financial records are up to date, accurate and complete.
Essential Criteria:
- A relevant finance or administration qualification relevant for this post or QBE
- Experience in a similar role, ideally working across all aspects of finance or administration
- Experience of working for Charity
- Understanding of accounting systems and experience of working with them
- Skilled IT user with excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Good with numbers and comfortable working with them
- An eye for detail
- Ability to use own initiative
- Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills and can listen to others and communicate clearly and concisely

About the Role
The Hive is a SAMH service situated in the grounds of the Royal Edinburgh Hospital providing an activity centre and coffee bar for in- patients of the hospital. The Hive is a fun lively place to work, we offer a welcoming space for patients away from the wards where they can get involved in activities and social events e.g. art, clay modelling, t-shirt printing, jewellery making, creative writing, support groups, seasonal events, pilates, yoga, karaoke, quizzes and many more!
If you have creative skills that you would like to share and have some experience of mental health we would love to hear from you.
The successful candidate will assist in the day to day running of the coffee bar serving drinks, snacks, keeping the coffee bar area clean and tidy in line with food hygiene regulation. They will also be responsible for leading and encouraging patient involvement in activities in the Hive activity centre, this can be providing group work such as exercise (e.g. walking group, yoga), support groups (Hearing Voices, SMART addictions and Self Harm). They will also be expected, to provide activities and events such as arts, crafts and music groups.
The post will also involve promotional and administrative tasks. The post requires flexibility in the hours that you are available to work.
Applications are welcome from people who have experienced mental health difficulties. PVG Scheme Membership, a Right to Work in the UK check and proof of qualifications declared on the application form are required.
What we are looking for
Creative and enthusiastic person to work with our small team to ensure a welcoming environment for in-patients. Experience of mental health and associated challenges desirable. Skills and experience in one or more arts, crafts, yoga/pilates, music or support groups is essential. All Hive staff work on the coffee bar too, so a hygiene certificate is essential or willingness to work towards, training provided.

We have an exciting new opportunity to join Health in Mind as a Team Leader. Within this role, you will be responsible for two services. The Trauma Support Service, based in Edinburgh, supports people who have experienced childhood trauma and abuse. The Community Mental Health and Wellbeing Service, based in Bathgate, supports the mental health and wellbeing of people across West Lothian. You will be part of our dynamic Leadership and Management Team, supporting Health in Mind’s vision, purpose and values.
This role requires some work at our office in Edinburgh and our office in Bathgate, with the option of some homeworking.
