Role

Our Stafford Centre Support Service in Edinburgh is looking for a skilled Cook to prepare delicious meals in our Café. You will work alongside our Café volunteers and be an integral part of the staff team.

In this role, you will be responsible for preparing nutritious meals on a daily basis. You will also work alongside the staff team in supporting people directly affected by mental health issues.

As an enthusiastic and committed person, you will be part of a vibrant team working in our Café. You will work alongside and support our Café volunteers. You will be responsible for preparing meals, and serving meals to people who use our service.

You will have excellent communication skills; have a good knowledge of mental health issues, have a good understanding of boundaries and confidentiality. You will be able to work independently and be an active team member. You will have a good knowledge of Office 365 and associated software.

Reporting to: Area Manager

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and cook fresh food from scratch using fresh produce
  • Ensure that the kitchen equipment and utensils are all properly cleaned and correctly stored away at the end of the day
  • Monitor stock and place orders when needed
  • Work within a limited budget
  • Ensure all food and other items are stored properly
  • Ensure up to date food temperature logs are kept
  • Keep a sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen
  • Ensure that all personal and food hygiene procedures are applied at all times

The ideal candidate will:

  • Work as an effective member of a team and to promote team work at all times
  • Observe good working practices and current health and safety regulations/ legislations
  • Exercise flexibility in working hours / days in carrying out your own duties
  • Observe and adhere to all Policies, Procedures and Regulations
  • The post holder will hold a current Elementary Food Hygiene Certificate#
  • The post-holder is also required to undertake such other duties as may be required by or on behalf of Change Mental Health provided that they are consistent with the nature of the post
  • Be committed to and attend relevant continuous professional development
  • Undertake any reasonable instruction given by your Manager to ensure the smooth and efficient delivery of your role
  • Complete the induction process, attend training, attend meetings, identify areas for self-development/further training, and actively contribute towards supervisions and annual appraisals.
  • Work with colleagues in contributing to service development.
