The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh is an independent membership organisation concerned principally with the education, training and assessment of Surgeons, Dental Surgeons and Doctors who are involved in the surgical care of patients. Founded in 1505, the College currently has a membership approaching 30,000 in approximately 100 countries throughout the world.

About the Role

Reporting to the Surgical Examinations Manager, the postholder will provide support to them in the management of allocated exams and supervision of the Examinations Co-ordinators workload. The post holder will assist with attendance at relevant board and committee meetings and with associated action points, whilst ensuring the high-quality delivery of examinations activities and services to all stakeholders.

The role is a varied, rewarding and challenging one within a fast-paced working environment. The candidate will be undertaking a diverse role with exposure to Senior College staff and members. In addition to specific duties and responsibilities outlined in the job description, the post offers the chance to become familiar with people management duties and the processes and policies that underpin that.

Experience/Qualifications/Key Skills

The role is an exciting opportunity for a confident and enthusiastic individual with excellent administration and organisational skills to work in busy team environment within a professional organisation. You will ideally have experience of event management. Independent and confident, you will have the ability to absorb large quantities of information and possess good problem-solving abilities. Possessing excellent organisational, verbal and written skills, you will enjoy the challenges of working under pressure and to tight deadlines, all to the highest standard and with attention to detail.

Educated to HND level, or equivalent experience, you will have experience of working with individuals at all levels including Senior figures. Some team management or supervisory experience would be useful.

A confident user of IT systems (including MS Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and MS Teams) is essential.
