VOCAL - Voice of Carers Across Lothian - is seeking a talented and enthusiastic Partnership Training Officer to work with: health and social care professionals (including in the acute/ hospital sector); third sector partners; and local employers to raise carer awareness, improve early carer identification and ensure carers are seen as equal partners in care and are connected to the right support at the right time.

The postholder will be responsible for:

• leading the coordination and delivery of VOCAL’s carer awareness training, Think Carer, through a range of formats – digitally and in-person
• supporting VOCAL’s work with employers through the delivery of training sessions to Midlothian’s largest employers, supporting the facilitation of events and design of bespoke training programmes
• working closely with VOCAL’s Edinburgh and Midlothian carer training team to develop best practice and support the development of staff digital competencies and confidence.

The successful candidate will have excellent knowledge and understanding of training methods, delivery and best practice, combined with outstanding digital skills and demonstrable experience of developing and delivering online, in-person and hybrid training. They will also have excellent interpersonal skills, able to network and work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders at all levels; as well as a good understanding of the needs and situation of carers. Some knowledge of the current health and social care environment will also be beneficial.

Both posts will be based at VOCAL's Carers Centre in Eskbank.

Post 1: will deliver carer support across the East Midlothian area (Dalkeith and Eskbank, Easthouses, Mayfield, Danderhall, Pathhead, Cousland, Gorebridge, Newtongrange, Middleton, Fala and surrounding areas)

Post 2: will deliver carer support across the West Midlothian area (Penicuik, Auchendinny, Bilston, Rosewell, Roslin, Loanhead, Bonnyrigg, Lasswade, and surrounding areas).

VOCAL is the Voice of Carers across Lothian, a Scottish charity run by carers and for carers since 1994. We are looking for two Carer Support Practitioners to join the team at our busy Midlothian Carer Centre in Eskbank. Each post will deliver carer support across different parts of Midlothian.

Postholders will extend the reach of VOCAL within local communities, supporting carer identification and removing barriers that may prevent carers from accessing support. Practitioners will support carers to identify their personal outcomes and needs, and plan and access person-centred support for their caring situation, their health and wellbeing and their personal development.

Applicants will have a sound knowledge of health and social care issues; the impact caring can have on individuals; the needs and situation of carers; and a demonstrated commitment to supporting carers.

Additionally, applicants must be able to demonstrate a good understanding of the range of supports which may alleviate the impact of caring and build carer confidence and resilience.

Role overview

Ecas is looking for a part-time (28 hours per week) administrator to join our small team, based in our offices at Norton Park, Edinburgh. The successful candidate will be responsible for the overall organisation and co-ordination of Ecas’ office operations, procedures, and resources to facilitate organisational effectiveness and efficiency. This includes acting as the Health and Safety Officer and administering Ecas’ grants fund.

Orientation/induction

After 23 years, our current administrator is retiring. To assist the new administrator in their vital role within our small office team, there will be a handover period to work alongside our current administrator and become familiar with the widely varying tasks and responsibilities.
