Due to the retirement of its current Coordinator, Edinburgh Carers Council is seeking an interim CEO to lead the organisation. Edinburgh Carers Council is an independent advocacy organisation, delivering individual and collective advocacy for unpaid carers. It also supports carers through Peer Support work
Edinburgh Carers Council works with unpaid carers of people with mental health issues, intellectual disabilities, dementia, autism, traumatic brain injury and physical disabilities. It is part of national and local strategic planning, including THRIVE Edinburgh.
The post
The main purpose of the post is to lead and manage the organisation, to ensure a focus on carers’ needs and views, and encourage and support staff and volunteers working for ECC. The CEO will represent the collective expressed views of carers at partnership and planning meetings and to the Board of Trustees. They will work closely with our Trustees to focus on our vision and strategy.
The post requires excellent communication skills and an understanding of the issues faced by unpaid carers and the impact of caring on health and wellbeing
