What will a typical day at Routes to Work be like for you?
As our Head of Operations (£60k), you will be working directly to the Chief Executive. You will have direct responsibility for the delivery of all aspects of service delivery across the company ensuring achievement of our aspirational targets of supporting more than 1,200 local residents into employment this year. You will provide direction, guidance and leadership to the operational teams and drive identified service development & improvement activities to ensure that the company remains at the cutting edge of employability service locally & nationally.

Routes To Work Limited is one of Scotland’s leading skills & employability providers, having supported more than 21,000 unemployed North Lanarkshire residents into work since inception in 2002. The company has an ambitious growth & continuous improvement agenda for the coming years and has recently re-configured its management structure to ensure delivery of such. The revised management structure includes two new roles: A Head of Operations and a Strategic Growth Manager, and we are keen to hear from candidates who have the necessary skills & experience to add value to our team and whose personal ambitions are aligned with our corporate vision.

Regional Manager, Dundee and Perth & Kinross

After being with us for over five years, our current Dundee and Perth & Kinross Regional Manager is relocating to England in November 2023 to be closer to family. As a passionate, experienced professional in the identification, creation and management of a wide range of great partner relationships, you will ensure the Career Ready programme in Dundee City and Perth & Kinross continues to thrive across 8 schools in Dundee and 9 in Perth & Kinross.
This is a wonderful role that requires a broad range of skills, so you will be well organised, confident and able to positively influence a wide range of people, approaching opportunities that are well researched and outcomes with an entrepreneurial mindset. It’s also a great chance to develop personally.
Leading our work involves growing, developing and maintaining the brilliant employer and education partnerships that deliver the Career Ready programme, which includes the Local Advisory Board, the Local Authorities (key sponsors), schools (we have a Career Ready coordinator in each school), the Developing the Young Workforce Regional Group, and the many employer organisations and their people who volunteer as mentors, provide quality paid internships and deliver engaging masterclasses.
By assimilating what, why, when and the how of our work, you will be able to:
Lead and develop our Career Ready partnerships in Dundee and Perth & Kinross, optimising the programme experience for all stakeholders and securing ongoing or new employer support for the growing number of students each year (c.64 in Dundee and 50 in Perth & Kinross) who participate in the 18-month long Career Ready programme annually.
Lead programme delivery, stakeholder engagement and business development by working closely with the Career Ready Dundee and Perth & Kinross Local Advisory Board; Leanna Sinclair, Partnerships Development; Janine McFarland, Head of Programme & Operations; and the Career Ready Regional Manager and Scotland Operations team on a continuous improvement agenda that is focused on quality, impact and sustainability underpinned by attention to detail with efficient and effective processes.
- £34,000 – £37,500 DOE (pro rata)
- A working from home allowance of £300 (pro rata) pa is provided
- 33 days holiday (pro rata) plus 2 additional days in the summer. In addition, Career Ready is closed between Christmas and New Year and the time off is not taken from annual leave entitlement
- 6% of salary contribution to a private pension subject to an employee contribution of 3%

WorkingRite is one of the leading employability focussed charities in Scotland. We are seeking a dynamic Chief Executive Officer to lead WorkingRite as a strong figurehead for the charity, providing leadership for the support of young people, placement employers, WR employees and volunteers.
The successful applicant will also be a positive ambassador to Central and Local Government and Funders, working on behalf of the Board of Trustees to develop and deliver the business plan and business strategy, ensuring the ongoing sustainability, growth and success of WorkingRite.
This post will be hybrid with base in Glasgow Office and is full time (37.5 hours) and permanent.
We require a CEO who can:
- Lead the development and implementation of our strategic goals, objectives and financial plans
- Manage the charity effectively, ensuring that its financial security, asset management and risk appraisal is planned, maintained and enhanced
- Deliver growth towards sustainability via program delivery and fundraising, and actively create new opportunities for WorkingRite
- Ensure effective internal infrastructure to deliver efficiently against goals, and with transparent reporting for the Team and Board
- Take overall responsibility for achieving, monitoring and reporting on performance against targets in all areas of the charity’s activities
- Develop a culture of continuous improvement throughout all aspects of the Charity’s work.
You will have inspirational leadership qualities; excellent communication skills; an ability to plan, think and organise around solution focused outcomes; ability to set the vision, spot opportunities and ensure strategic alignment, have an in-depth understanding of youth employability and policy landscape at local and national levels; and a desire to achieve change for young people across Scotland.
About us
Ochil Tower School is an independent charity offering education, care and therapy services for children and young people with complex additional support needs on a residential and day basis. Our pupils come from a range of local authorities across Scotland. We have an ambitious development plan which includes an extension to our 52 week provision for all our children and young people and opening our 5th house on site, which follows on from the establishment of a Life Skills Centre for our senior pupils (18-21 years).

The Role
We are seeking to appoint an Operation Manager (Care) who will lead on the delivery of our vision and continue to foster an inclusive approach amongst all colleagues to ensure we optimise the outcomes for the children and young people who attend Ochil Tower School.
You will assist the Head of Care with Leadership and Management for the delivery of a specialist residential service for pupils with additional complex support needs, by being visible and having an operational background.
The Person
You will have extensive operational experience, working in children's residential with a minimum of 5 years managing services. You will be qualified to meet the registration requirements which will include Leadership and Management Award (SQA Level 10) and SVQ Level 4 in Social Care or Equivalent with clear evidence of commitment to continuous professional development.
