Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work for a national children’s charity in a newly created role as our IT & Digital Manager.

We are looking for a positive, proactive and values-led person, who is eager to bring their knowledge, skills and individual experiences to Children in Scotland. This role will help ensure that our internal and external activities which rely on IT infrastructure and digital delivery run smoothly.

This role will have overall responsibility for the IT function including staff support and training, infrastructure, policies and procedures (including information security and data protection) and compliance.

You will ensure that our IT systems, policies and procedures are robust and staff are well supported in the use of the IT hardware and software available to them, as well as being well briefed on information handling and security matters to protect the organisation from cyber threats.

As a Children in Scotland manager, you will have responsibility for the delivery of activity in your specific area, aligned with our Strategic and Delivery Plans, and be a member of the Managers’ group. You will demonstrate effective leadership and management of your team, have excellent communications skills and strong technical know-how, and uphold the Children in Scotland values.

Children in Scotland are committed to supporting our staff team wholeheartedly in the important work they do – this post will be a key part of that.

You will use your experience to ensure our staff have the most appropriate technical resources available to them and are confident in the effective use of them. You will be supported in your role by a team of three part time “superusers” who provide front line support on a shared basis to our staff team on IT matters, one of whom is also a part time IT officer, working 1 day a week on organisational IT matters. You will work closely with our external IT company who source our IT hardware for us, maintain our cloud backups and provide both helpdesk support for IT set ups and fixes.

Children in Scotland are committed to our online security and the protection the data we hold. You will use your experience to ensure our information security and data protection systems, policies and procedures are robust and staff are confident in keeping the data we hold safe and secure.

You will be ready to hit the ground running but we will offer you an excellent induction and support through those first few months, which will then turn into longer term development opportunities.

You will join a brilliant group of supportive staff who are passionate about making a difference to children’s lives and work hard to achieve this.
